France Inflation Rises to 2.6% in August
France’s consumer prices rose by 2.6% year-on-year in August on an EU-harmonised basis, according to data released by French statistics agency INSEE on Tuesday.
Inflation Comes Below Preliminary Estimate
The final inflation reading was slightly lower than the 2.7% preliminary estimate published earlier in the month.
Despite the downward revision, inflation accelerated compared with July. France recorded an annual harmonised inflation rate of 2.4% in July.
Highest Inflation Rate Since May
The August figure marks France’s highest harmonised inflation rate since May, indicating renewed upward pressure on consumer prices in the euro zone’s second-largest economy.
