Looking for the biggest developments in crypto today? The latest market news includes a major regulatory step in the United Kingdom, fresh questions over Crypto.com’s AI platform, and new comments from Bitget following a $388 million security breach.

These stories are shaping the broader crypto market and could influence Bitcoin, blockchain adoption, Web3, DeFi, and digital-asset regulation.

UK Opens Crypto Authorization Applications

The UK Financial Conduct Authority has officially opened applications for crypto companies seeking authorization under the country’s upcoming regulatory framework.

The new regime is scheduled to take effect on Oct. 25, 2027.

Crypto businesses that want to continue operating in the UK are being encouraged to submit applications by the end of February 2027.

The FCA expects to process applications submitted within that period before the new rules come into force.

New UK Crypto Rules Expand FCA Oversight

The upcoming framework significantly expands the FCA’s authority over the crypto industry.

Previously, much of the regulator’s oversight focused on anti-money laundering rules and financial promotions.

The new structure introduces broader requirements covering stablecoin issuance, crypto trading platforms, and market abuse.

The FCA finalized many of these rules in June.

Dominic Cashman, the FCA’s director of authorization, said the new system is designed to provide stronger consumer protection while giving crypto companies a clearer operating framework.

Existing Crypto Firms Must Reapply

Industry groups have also warned that existing registrations will not automatically transfer into the new system.

Emma Banymandhub, CEO of The Payments Association, said companies currently registered under money laundering regulations should treat the new process as a completely separate authorization requirement.

That means existing firms may need to meet a higher regulatory standard before they can continue serving customers under the 2027 framework.

Crypto.com AI Platform Remains in Stealth Mode

Elsewhere in crypto today, Crypto.com’s personal AI agent platform remains under development almost eight months after its high-profile Super Bowl debut.

The platform, Ai.com, was promoted during a $15 million Super Bowl advertisement in February.

The campaign generated significant interest, with large numbers of users visiting the website to reserve usernames for personal AI agents.

Demand was so high that the website reportedly crashed shortly after the advertisement aired.

Ai.com Still Waiting for Full Public Launch

Despite the attention surrounding its debut, the AI platform has yet to fully launch.

Nearly eight months later, the website still indicates that AI agent creation is being queued because of strong demand.

A Crypto.com spokesperson confirmed that development is continuing.

The company described Ai.com as being in “stealth mode” and said additional details will be shared when the platform is ready for a wider public release.

The delay comes as competing crypto platforms increasingly experiment with artificial intelligence.

Several rivals have already introduced AI assistants focused on trading, portfolio management, and market analysis.

Bitget CEO Doubts Full Recovery After $388 Million Hack

Another major crypto story involves Bitget and the aftermath of a large security breach.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said she is not highly confident that the exchange will recover a significant portion of the $388 million stolen in last week’s hack.

Chen pointed to previous crypto attacks as evidence of how difficult it can be to recover stolen funds once they begin moving across multiple wallets, networks, and platforms.

Bitget Launches Recovery Bounty Program

Bitget has introduced a bounty program in an effort to recover stolen assets.

The exchange is offering a 5% reward for funds that are successfully frozen.

An additional 5% reward is available for assets that are ultimately recovered.

Bitget initially estimated the losses from the hack at approximately $352 million.

After reviewing additional transactions, the company raised the figure to $388 million.

Chen previously said some evidence may point toward North Korean involvement. However, the exchange is still investigating the source of the attack.

Withdrawals Begin to Resume

Bitget has also started restoring withdrawals in stages.

Bitcoin withdrawals resumed first on Monday.

Ether withdrawals followed on Tuesday.

The gradual reopening suggests that the exchange is attempting to restore normal operations while continuing its investigation into the breach.

Crypto Today: Regulation, AI and Security Dominate

Today’s crypto news highlights three major themes affecting the industry.

First, regulation is becoming more formalized as governments introduce clearer authorization requirements.

Second, crypto companies are investing heavily in artificial intelligence, although some projects are taking longer than expected to reach the market.

Finally, security remains one of the biggest challenges facing centralized crypto platforms.

Together, these developments show how quickly the crypto industry continues to evolve across regulation, technology, and risk management.
