Anthropic is preparing for a potential stock market debut that could test investor appetite for the enormous spending and valuations driving the artificial intelligence boom.
According to its IPO prospectus, the AI startup is targeting a valuation of more than $2 trillion.
That would more than double Anthropic’s estimated $965 billion valuation from May.
Anthropic Revenue Surges in 2025
Anthropic recorded rapid revenue growth during 2025.
Revenue increased roughly 12-fold to nearly $4.6 billion, highlighting the strong demand for the company’s artificial intelligence products and Claude AI models.
However, that growth came alongside extremely large losses.
Anthropic reported a net loss of about $42 billion for the year.
Accounting Charges Drive Massive Loss
A significant portion of the loss came from accounting-related expenses.
Around $34 billion was linked to financing instruments that could eventually convert into company shares.
Even after excluding some of these accounting effects, Anthropic still recorded an operating loss of more than $8 billion.
The figures highlight the enormous cost of competing at the forefront of artificial intelligence development.
AI Computing Costs Continue to Surge
Anthropic’s infrastructure spending also increased sharply.
The company spent approximately $7.33 billion on computing and infrastructure during 2025.
That was around three times the amount spent during the previous year.
The expansion reflects the high cost of training and operating increasingly advanced AI models.
Anthropic Faces $518 Billion in Infrastructure Commitments
Anthropic also disclosed major future spending commitments.
The company expects roughly $518 billion in cloud computing, data infrastructure and related obligations over the coming year.
These commitments underline how capital-intensive the artificial intelligence industry has become.
AI companies require enormous amounts of computing power, data-centre capacity and energy to develop and operate advanced models.
Customer Concentration Creates Additional Risk
Anthropic also highlighted risks related to its customer base.
Nearly one-quarter of the company’s revenue reportedly comes from only two customers.
This creates a significant concentration risk if either client reduces spending or switches to a competing AI provider.
The company acknowledged that large customers could lower their spending in the future.
Claude Expansion Comes at a High Cost
Anthropic has invested heavily in expanding its Claude family of AI models.
The company is competing with OpenAI and other major technology groups for leadership in generative artificial intelligence.
However, the prospectus shows that rapid growth has required substantial spending on computing resources and infrastructure.
For investors, one of the main questions will be whether Anthropic can eventually turn strong revenue growth into sustainable profitability.
Anthropic IPO Could Reshape AI Valuations
Anthropic’s IPO is expected to take place after the November U.S. midterm elections.
A successful listing would place the company alongside other major AI businesses entering public markets.
More importantly, a $2 trillion valuation could establish a significant new benchmark for the broader artificial intelligence sector.
Investors will likely focus on Anthropic’s revenue growth, operating losses, customer concentration and enormous infrastructure commitments when assessing the company’s valuation.
The IPO could therefore become one of the most closely watched technology listings of the AI boom.
