The latest crypto news today highlights major developments in artificial intelligence, Bitcoin treasury companies, and cryptocurrency exchange security.

On October 29, attention turned to remarks from US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chair Michael Selig about autonomous AI agents conducting cryptocurrency transactions.

Meanwhile, Strategy shareholders approved daily dividend payments for four preferred stocks. Coinbase also addressed a security incident involving a third-party analytics provider that exposed some customer information.

These developments highlight the growing connections between blockchain technology, traditional finance, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency regulation.

CFTC Chair Says AI Agents Could Stake Ethereum and Launch Memecoins

CFTC Chair Michael Selig believes artificial intelligence could fundamentally change how individuals and businesses interact with financial markets.

Speaking at the agency’s inaugural Frontier Forum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, Selig described a future in which everyday household devices could independently manage digital assets.

For example, an AI-powered refrigerator might eventually purchase groceries using rewards generated through Ether staking. Such a device could even create its own memecoin without direct human involvement.

Although these possibilities remain largely theoretical, Selig emphasized that autonomous financial systems are becoming increasingly realistic.

He also warned that regulators must prepare for a financial environment in which AI agents independently hold cryptocurrencies, execute trades, and interact with blockchain networks.

AI Adoption Raises New Cryptocurrency Regulation Challenges

The growing use of artificial intelligence in financial services raises important questions about accountability and investor protection.

Traditional regulatory frameworks generally assume that identifiable individuals or institutions control financial transactions.

However, autonomous AI agents could complicate these arrangements by making investment decisions and executing transactions with limited human supervision.

Selig argued that regulators must adapt to these technological changes while preserving market integrity.

Meanwhile, younger investors are increasingly interested in using artificial intelligence to manage their portfolios.

According to a September 2026 eToro survey, 79% of US millennial investors and 77% of Gen Z investors either already use or are willing to use AI when selecting or adjusting investments.

The findings suggest that AI-powered financial tools could play a growing role in cryptocurrency investing and traditional asset management.

Strategy Shareholders Approve Daily Dividends on Four Preferred Stocks

Strategy, the world’s largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, has secured shareholder approval to introduce daily dividend payments across four preferred securities.

According to preliminary voting results, approximately 99.3% of votes cast supported the proposed amendments.

The changes affect the company’s STRF, STRC, STRK, and STRD preferred stocks.

Currently, these securities distribute dividends through semi-monthly or quarterly payment schedules.

Under the approved structure, dividends will accrue every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, while payments will occur on business days.

Importantly, the new schedule will not change the securities’ existing annual dividend rates.

Strategy Announces November and January Dividend Dates

Strategy expects its STRC preferred stock to begin daily dividend payments on November 2, 2026.

Meanwhile, STRF, STRK, and STRD are scheduled to follow on January 4, 2027, subject to the amended terms taking effect.

The company believes more frequent payments could improve liquidity and help reduce price volatility in its preferred securities.

Strategy’s preferred stocks currently offer annual dividend rates ranging from 8% to 12%.

STRC carries a variable annual rate of 12%, while the other three securities offer fixed dividend rates.

Strive Expands Its Preferred Stock Financing

Strategy’s decision follows similar developments at competing Bitcoin treasury company Strive.

Strive introduced daily dividends through its SATA preferred stock earlier in 2026.

More recently, the company raised approximately $630 million through an offering of SATS preferred shares, which carry a fixed annual dividend rate of 15%.

The expansion highlights growing interest in preferred securities as an alternative financing method for companies holding substantial Bitcoin reserves.

According to recently reported corporate treasury figures, Strategy holds approximately 848,517 BTC, compared with Strive’s 43,000 BTC.

These holdings place both companies among the largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin investors.

Coinbase Reports Customer Data Exposure Through Third-Party Vendor

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase confirmed that some customer contact information was exposed following a security incident involving analytics provider Amplitude.

The company said the incident affected a small portion of its customer base, along with customers of other businesses using Amplitude’s services.

However, Coinbase emphasized that its own systems had not been compromised.

The exchange also stated that customer funds were not affected by the incident.

According to Coinbase Support, the company is notifying impacted users and relevant authorities.

The exchange did not initially disclose the exact number of affected customers.

Crypto Security Concerns Extend to South Korean Firms

The Coinbase announcement came alongside reports of cybersecurity incidents involving several financial institutions in South Korea.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb became the subject of an investigation following a cyberattack involving an internal workplace system.

Authorities are examining the extent of the incident and whether customer information was affected.

Meanwhile, South Korean brokerage Daishin Securities disclosed that personal information belonging to approximately 38,490 customers had been compromised.

The exposed information reportedly included customer names, email addresses, and other personal details.

These incidents highlight the importance of cybersecurity across cryptocurrency exchanges and traditional financial institutions.

Even when digital assets remain secure, compromised customer information can increase exposure to phishing attempts and other online scams.

Crypto Market Outlook: AI, Bitcoin Financing and Security in Focus

The latest cryptocurrency developments illustrate how rapidly the digital asset industry continues to evolve.

Artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities for automated trading and blockchain transactions. However, these innovations also introduce regulatory questions that authorities must address.

Meanwhile, Strategy’s daily dividend initiative demonstrates how major Bitcoin treasury companies are developing new financial structures to attract investors.

At the same time, the Coinbase and South Korean cybersecurity incidents reinforce the need for stronger protection of customer information.

Looking ahead, investors will likely monitor developments in AI regulation, corporate Bitcoin financing, and cryptocurrency security as these themes continue shaping the broader digital asset market.
