Uber reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings and revenue on Wednesday, supported by robust growth across its ride-hailing, delivery, and freight businesses. The company’s gross bookings increased by 20%, highlighting continued demand for its global transportation and delivery services.

However, Uber’s fourth-quarter outlook offered a more mixed picture, with some profitability forecasts coming in close to Wall Street expectations despite the company’s strong operating performance.

Uber Q3 Earnings Beat Wall Street Expectations

Uber reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.88 for the third quarter, exceeding analysts’ consensus estimate of $0.86.

Quarterly revenue climbed 9.6% year over year to $14.8 billion, surpassing market expectations of approximately $14.67 billion.

The results reflected continued growth across Uber’s platform as more consumers relied on its mobility and delivery services.

Investors responded positively to the earnings announcement, sending Uber shares more than 3% higher during early US trading on Wednesday.

Uber Gross Bookings Jump 20% to $59.82 Billion

One of the strongest highlights of Uber’s Q3 earnings report was the company’s substantial increase in gross bookings.

Total gross bookings reached $59.82 billion, representing growth of approximately 20% compared with the previous year.

Performance was positive across all three major business divisions.

Mobility gross bookings increased 18% to $29.51 billion, reflecting sustained demand for ride-hailing services.

Delivery bookings rose 22% to $28.54 billion, supported by continued consumer engagement with Uber’s delivery platform.

Meanwhile, freight bookings recorded the fastest growth, surging 35% to $1.77 billion.

The figures demonstrate Uber’s ability to expand beyond its traditional ride-hailing operations while benefiting from increased demand across multiple transportation and logistics markets.

Wall Street Analysts Highlight Strong Platform Growth

Analysts at William Blair welcomed Uber’s third-quarter performance, pointing to the company’s continued expansion despite operational challenges.

The investment firm’s analysts highlighted gross bookings of approximately $59.8 billion, representing 20% year-over-year growth on a constant-currency basis.

The figure was broadly consistent with the midpoint of market expectations.

However, analysts also acknowledged that supply constraints continue to affect certain areas of the business.

Despite these challenges, Uber maintained strong momentum in both customer activity and financial performance.

Uber Profitability Improves as Adjusted EBITDA Rises 31%

Uber also delivered significant growth in adjusted operating profitability during the quarter.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased 31% to $2.96 billion.

Meanwhile, adjusted operating income reached approximately $2.3 billion.

These results indicate that Uber continued to improve its adjusted profitability while expanding its global platform.

However, stock-based compensation expenses also increased, rising 27% to $591 million.

Higher share-based compensation remains an important consideration for investors evaluating the company’s overall profitability and shareholder dilution.

Uber Trips and Monthly Active Users Continue to Grow

Customer engagement remained another major driver of Uber’s third-quarter performance.

The company completed approximately 4.06 billion trips during the period, representing a 16% increase from a year earlier.

At the same time, monthly active platform consumers grew 14% to 215 million.

The expansion highlights Uber’s growing global customer base and the increasing frequency with which consumers use its services.

Higher platform engagement also supports the company’s longer-term strategy of generating additional revenue through its mobility, delivery, and other transportation-related businesses.

Middle East Conflict Weighs on Uber Mobility Growth

Despite the positive quarterly results, geopolitical developments created challenges for Uber’s ride-hailing business.

The company estimated that the ongoing Middle East conflict reduced mobility gross bookings growth by approximately 75 basis points during the third quarter.

Uber also expects the conflict to reduce mobility bookings growth by roughly 100 basis points in the fourth quarter.

The impact highlights the company’s exposure to geopolitical uncertainty and changing economic conditions across international markets.

Although Uber continues to expand globally, regional disruptions could affect transportation demand and overall booking growth.

Uber Q4 Outlook Points to Continued Expansion

Looking ahead, Uber expects fourth-quarter gross bookings to reach between $63.25 billion and $65.25 billion.

This would represent constant-currency growth of approximately 18% to 22% year over year.

Analysts had previously projected gross bookings of around $64.29 billion, placing Uber’s guidance midpoint broadly in line with expectations.

The company also forecast adjusted earnings per share between $0.95 and $0.99, with the midpoint approximately matching analyst estimates.

Meanwhile, Uber expects adjusted EBITDA of $3.13 billion to $3.23 billion, compared with Wall Street’s forecast of approximately $3.15 billion.

The midpoint of the adjusted EBITDA outlook is slightly above that estimate, suggesting that profitability expectations remain relatively stable.

What Uber’s Q3 Results Mean for Investors

Uber’s latest earnings report demonstrates the continued expansion of its global mobility, delivery, and freight operations.

Strong booking growth, rising customer activity, and improving adjusted profitability suggest that the company continues to benefit from increased demand for app-based transportation and delivery services.

However, geopolitical uncertainty, operational constraints, and rising stock-based compensation expenses remain important factors to monitor.

Investors will now focus on whether Uber can sustain its booking growth and profitability improvements while navigating these challenges.

The company’s fourth-quarter performance will provide further insight into its ability to maintain momentum heading into 2027.
