Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) shares climbed more than 1% on Thursday after a newly released financial disclosure revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump had purchased between $5 million and $25 million worth of Meta stock. However, the shares later gave up part of their gains.

CNBC was among the first media outlets to highlight the size of Trump’s investment in the Facebook and Instagram parent company.

The disclosure also revealed hundreds of additional securities transactions, including a multimillion-dollar investment in debt issued by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Trump’s Financial Disclosure Reveals Over 500 Transactions

According to the newly published 18-page financial filing, Trump reported 517 securities purchases and sales during August 2026.

The transactions carried a combined reported value ranging from $74.3 million to $273.3 million.

Federal disclosure requirements allow officials to report transaction values within specified ranges rather than providing exact amounts.

Consequently, CNBC’s analysis estimated that Trump’s reported purchases totaled at least $44.2 million, while sales amounted to at least $30.1 million.

Despite the substantial trading activity, August marked a slowdown compared with previous months.

In both June and July, Trump had disclosed more than 1,000 securities transactions per month.

Meta Stock Purchase Reaches Up to $25 Million

The largest transaction recorded in the August disclosure involved Meta Platforms stock.

On August 21, Trump reported purchasing Meta shares valued between $5 million and $25 million.

The investment attracted attention from financial markets, with Meta shares initially rising more than 1% following reports of the transaction.

However, the stock subsequently reduced its gains as investors assessed the broader implications of the disclosure.

Trump Expands Investments Across Major U.S. Companies

The Meta purchase formed part of a wider portfolio adjustment involving several prominent American corporations.

On the same day, Trump disclosed investments ranging from $1 million to $5 million each in the following companies:

  • AT&T
  • ConocoPhillips
  • Abbott Laboratories
  • Netflix
  • Chevron

These transactions indicate significant investment activity across telecommunications, energy, healthcare, entertainment, and other major sectors of the U.S. economy.

Meanwhile, the disclosure also detailed several stock sales.

Trump reported selling between $1 million and $5 million worth of shares in both Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Church & Dwight.

Additionally, he reduced smaller holdings in Boeing, Home Depot, T-Mobile, Datadog, Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, and Nvidia.

The transactions reflect considerable changes across his publicly disclosed investment portfolio.

Trump Reveals Multimillion-Dollar SpaceX Debt Investment

Another notable development involved SpaceX, the privately held aerospace and satellite company led by Elon Musk.

According to the filing, Trump’s investment accounts purchased between $1 million and $5 million in senior unsecured notes issued by SpaceX.

Unlike a direct stock purchase, this investment represents corporate debt rather than ownership of additional company shares.

The securities carry an annual interest rate of 5.35% and are scheduled to mature in July 2031.

The transaction adds to Trump’s previously disclosed financial exposure to the aerospace company.

Previous SpaceX Investments Also Disclosed

Trump had already reported smaller investments involving SpaceX earlier in the summer.

His earlier filings showed purchases of SpaceX shares valued between $15,001 and $50,000 in both June and July.

Additionally, he disclosed selling between $1,001 and $15,000 worth of SpaceX shares during July.

The latest debt purchase represents a substantially larger reported investment in the company than those earlier equity transactions.

Meta and SpaceX Investments Draw Market Attention

Trump’s latest financial disclosure provides additional insight into the scale and composition of his reported securities transactions.

The substantial Meta stock purchase stands out as the largest disclosed transaction for August, while the SpaceX debt investment adds another significant position to his portfolio.

Meanwhile, purchases and sales involving major technology, energy, and consumer companies illustrate the broad range of assets included in the filing.

For investors, the disclosure highlights notable financial activity involving two closely watched companies: publicly traded Meta Platforms and privately held SpaceX.

However, the reported transaction ranges do not establish the exact amounts invested, and the filing does not explain the investment strategy behind each purchase or sale.
