Switzerland’s economy grew by 1.5% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous quarter, according to preliminary GDP data released on Friday.
The result came in well above market expectations. Economists had forecast quarterly growth of just 0.3%, making the latest reading significantly stronger than anticipated.
Swiss Economy Shows Resilience
The Swiss economy remained resilient during the quarter despite facing higher energy prices. Stronger-than-expected economic activity suggests that businesses and consumers were able to absorb some of the increased costs.
Recent survey data also points to continued economic strength. Current indicators suggest that Switzerland’s economy could maintain positive momentum in the third quarter of 2026.
