Nvidia, Hyundai, and South Korea Advance Plans for AI Technology Center
Hyundai Motor, Nvidia, and the South Korean government are reportedly in the final stages of discussions to establish a major artificial intelligence technology center in South Korea, according to a report from the Korea Economic Daily.
The proposed facility would strengthen the country’s position in the rapidly expanding AI industry while deepening cooperation between one of the world’s largest automakers and the leading AI chip manufacturer.
Saemangeum Emerges as Leading Location
According to government and industry sources cited in the report, the Saemangeum reclamation project on South Korea’s southwest coast has emerged as the frontrunner to host the new AI research and development center.
The region has increasingly attracted attention for large-scale technology and industrial projects, making it a strategic location for future AI infrastructure investment.
Expansion of Existing Nvidia-Hyundai Partnership
The planned center is expected to follow a model similar to Nvidia’s existing research and development hubs in Singapore and Taiwan.
Industry observers believe the project represents a natural extension of the memorandum of understanding signed by Hyundai and Nvidia in October 2025. Under that agreement, Nvidia committed to supplying Hyundai with advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) while both companies agreed to collaborate on the development of artificial intelligence facilities in South Korea.
The partnership is designed to accelerate AI innovation across automotive, manufacturing, and advanced technology applications.
Jensen Huang Expected to Visit South Korea
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit South Korea this week, further fueling speculation about the proposed AI center.
During the visit, Huang is expected to meet Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung, along with several prominent South Korean business leaders, on Friday.
The meetings are likely to focus on strengthening AI cooperation, expanding technology investments, and exploring new opportunities for innovation within South Korea’s growing artificial intelligence ecosystem.
