Metaplanet has moved a large amount of Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime, attracting fresh attention from crypto investors. The Bitcoin treasury company transferred 1,350 BTC worth approximately $108 million, raising speculation about a possible sale.
The move comes as Bitcoin continues to struggle around the important $80,000 resistance level. Metaplanet has also made several similar transfers this month, increasing concerns among market participants.
Metaplanet Transfers $108 Million in Bitcoin
According to on-chain tracking platform Lookonchain, Metaplanet transferred 1,350 BTC to Coinbase Prime. At the time of the transaction, the Bitcoin was valued at around $108 million.
The transfer has fueled speculation that Metaplanet could be preparing to sell part of its Bitcoin holdings.
However, moving Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime does not automatically confirm that a sale will take place. Institutional platforms can also be used for custody and other financial operations.
Still, large transfers to exchange-linked platforms often attract attention because they can potentially increase selling pressure if the assets are eventually sold.
Metaplanet Made Another Major BTC Transfer
The latest transaction follows another significant Bitcoin movement earlier this week.
On August 25, Metaplanet reportedly transferred another 1,000 BTC, worth approximately $79.77 million, to Coinbase Prime.
The two large transfers have increased speculation among traders, especially as Bitcoin attempts to establish a stronger breakout above $80,000.
Metaplanet has reportedly purchased around 43,000 BTC at an average price of $96,191 per Bitcoin.
Meanwhile, Arkham data cited in the original report showed that the company currently holds approximately 38,650 BTC, valued at around $3.07 billion.
Metaplanet also reported a profit of about $20 million during the first half of 2026.
Bitcoin Price Faces Key $80,000 Resistance
The timing of Metaplanet’s Bitcoin transfers is particularly important because BTC continues to trade around a major technical level.
At the time covered by the report, Bitcoin was trading near $79,133 after reaching a 24-hour high of $81,281.
This puts the $80,000 area back in focus for traders. A sustained move above this level could improve market sentiment, while another rejection could increase concerns about further downside pressure.
The large Metaplanet transfers may therefore receive even more attention while Bitcoin remains close to this key resistance zone.
Strategy Also Pauses Bitcoin Purchases
Metaplanet is not the only major Bitcoin treasury company attracting attention.
Strategy has also stopped adding Bitcoin for the moment and has instead shifted more attention toward building its U.S. dollar cash reserves.
This change has added to broader discussions around the strategies being used by large corporate Bitcoin holders.
Reports about the possible removal of Strategy and Metaplanet from the MSCI Index have also contributed to uncertainty among investors.
Are Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Transfers a Sell Signal?
For now, there is no confirmation that Metaplanet intends to sell the Bitcoin transferred to Coinbase Prime.
Large transfers to institutional trading platforms can create concern because they may precede sales. However, such transactions can also be related to custody, liquidity management, or other corporate purposes.
Investors will likely continue watching Metaplanet’s wallets and future transactions for clearer evidence of its plans.
Bitcoin’s price action will also remain important. If BTC can establish a sustained move above the $80,000 region, it could improve sentiment around Bitcoin treasury companies.
On the other hand, continued weakness around this resistance level could keep selloff concerns in focus.
