Bitcoin Price Hits $83K Wall as Stocks and Yields Rise

Bitcoin price struggled to break above $83,000 on Monday, as significant selling pressure prevented the cryptocurrency from benefiting from a broader recovery in US stocks and rising Treasury yields.

Despite positive momentum across global equity markets, Bitcoin (BTC) slipped below $82,000 following Wall Street’s opening bell. The cryptocurrency remained trapped in a narrow trading range as large sell orders accumulated around the $83,000 resistance level.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.5%, while the benchmark US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.13%, highlighting Bitcoin’s divergence from traditional financial markets.

Bitcoin Price Falls Below $82,000 Despite Stock Market Rally

Bitcoin failed to sustain its early gains as sellers regained control near the $83,000 level.

According to TradingView data, BTC/USD declined to $81,678 on Bitstamp, after reaching an intraday high of $83,062.

The pullback occurred despite a strong start to the trading week for Asian and American equities.

South Korea’s technology-heavy KOSPI Composite Index advanced 1.76%, closing at 5,768 points. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite climbed approximately 1.5% during the opening hours of US trading.

The gains helped global stock markets recover part of the losses recorded during the previous week, particularly as selling pressure on technology shares began to ease.

However, Bitcoin struggled to follow the positive momentum, suggesting that cryptocurrency traders remained cautious despite improving sentiment in equity markets.

US Treasury Yields Rise Alongside Equities

US government bond yields also moved higher as investors positioned themselves ahead of important corporate earnings announcements.

The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.13%, while the 30-year yield climbed to 5.46%.

The increases continued a recent pattern in which Treasury yields and stock prices have moved in the same direction.

Investors were particularly focused on upcoming technology sector earnings, which could provide additional insight into corporate profitability and demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

However, the relationship between bond yields and cryptocurrency prices remains important for Bitcoin’s short-term outlook.

Cryptocurrency trading firm QCP Capital identified stability in the US bond market as a potentially important factor supporting future Bitcoin gains.

The firm also warned that another significant decline in technology stocks could create additional selling pressure across cryptocurrency markets.

According to QCP Capital, prolonged equity market deleveraging could spill over into digital assets and potentially threaten Bitcoin’s $80,000 support level.

Conversely, a sustained rally in US Treasury bond prices, accompanied by declining real yields and a weaker US dollar, could improve conditions for risk-sensitive assets, including Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Faces Strong Selling Pressure at $83,000 Resistance

Bitcoin’s inability to maintain upward momentum was partly attributed to substantial sell orders positioned above $83,000.

Market data indicated that sell-side liquidity had increased across cryptocurrency exchanges, creating a significant resistance barrier.

These large clusters of orders can make it difficult for Bitcoin to advance, particularly when buying demand is insufficient to absorb the available supply.

According to CoinGlass, total cryptocurrency liquidations reached approximately $335 million over 24 hours, reflecting continued volatility across leveraged trading positions.

The concentration of sell orders near $83,000 contributed to Bitcoin’s reversal and reinforced the importance of that price level for short-term traders.

A sustained move above this resistance could signal improving buying momentum. However, continued rejection may keep Bitcoin trading within its existing range.

Bitcoin Whale Activity Declines as Market Uncertainty Persists

Additional blockchain data suggests that large Bitcoin holders have become less active on cryptocurrency exchanges.

According to onchain analytics platform CryptoQuant, the Binance whale ratio declined from 0.54 at the beginning of October to approximately 0.45.

The indicator measures the proportion of exchange inflows represented by the ten largest Bitcoin deposit transactions.

A falling whale ratio indicates that large transactions account for a smaller share of total Bitcoin inflows to the exchange.

CryptoQuant suggested that this decline could reflect changes in how major Bitcoin holders manage their assets and execute trading strategies.

However, reduced whale deposit activity does not necessarily confirm an immediate bullish or bearish trend.

Instead, the indicator provides additional information about the behavior of large market participants during periods of uncertainty.

Can Bitcoin Defend the $80,000 Support Level?

Bitcoin’s latest price action highlights the importance of two technical levels that could influence its next significant move.

The $83,000 resistance area remains a key obstacle for buyers, while the $80,000 support level could become increasingly important if selling pressure intensifies.

A successful breakout above $83,000 could improve short-term market sentiment and encourage renewed buying interest.

On the other hand, another decline in technology stocks or a deterioration in broader financial conditions could expose Bitcoin to additional downside pressure.

For now, traders are closely monitoring US Treasury yields, equity market performance, exchange liquidity and institutional trading activity for signs of Bitcoin’s next directional move.
