Bitget CEO Doubts Bitcoin Rally, Targets $50K Instead

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen remains cautious about Bitcoin’s latest rebound and does not believe the current rally necessarily signals the end of the broader bearish phase.

Despite Bitcoin recently climbing toward $79,000, Chen says she is keeping a large portion of her portfolio in stablecoins and waiting for a significantly lower entry point.

Her preferred level? Around $50,000 per Bitcoin.

Gracy Chen Eyes Bitcoin Near $50K

Chen said she would consider increasing her Bitcoin exposure if BTC fell toward the $50,000 level later in 2026 or possibly early next year.

That would represent a decline of more than $25,000 from recent prices.

However, the Bitget CEO stressed that this is simply her personal investment view rather than a firm Bitcoin price prediction.

She acknowledged that Bitcoin remains notoriously difficult to forecast and said the cryptocurrency could just as easily finish the year roughly $20,000 above current levels.

Chen also played down her credentials as a market forecaster, noting that Bitget’s primary role is to provide traders and analysts with a platform rather than predict Bitcoin’s next move.

Bitcoin Rally Fails to Convince Some Market Experts

Chen is not the only prominent crypto figure expecting Bitcoin to potentially experience another major correction.

Bitcoin has gained more than 20% over the past week, but some analysts remain cautious about whether the rebound can continue.

Transform Ventures founder Michael Terpin previously warned that Bitcoin could face additional downside.

Terpin believes BTC could ultimately decline around 66% from its October 2025 record high of $126,100, which would potentially take the cryptocurrency into the $40,000 range.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt has also previously suggested that Bitcoin could form a market bottom later in the year.

Chen, however, has avoided attaching a specific date to her $50,000 Bitcoin target.

She believes such a move could happen later in 2026 or sometime in 2027, while stressing that the estimate remains highly uncertain.

Who Is Bitget CEO Gracy Chen?

Chen’s background extends well beyond the cryptocurrency industry.

She studied Applied Mathematics at the National University of Singapore before earning an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Her professional career initially took her into television.

In 2014, Chen joined Phoenix TV as a host and producer, where she attended financial events and interviewed executives from the technology and business sectors.

Those experiences eventually helped steer her toward entrepreneurship.

Chen later founded two companies. Her first venture, Accumulous, provided platform-as-a-service solutions for businesses in China. She later launched ReigVR in 2017.

Her interest in cryptocurrency developed after meeting prominent Bitcoin investor Tim Draper and members of his crypto team.

Chen eventually moved into crypto marketing before joining Bitget as managing director in 2022. She became the exchange’s CEO in 2024.

Bitget CEO Prefers Bitcoin Over Most Altcoins

Despite leading an exchange that supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies, Chen maintains relatively limited exposure to altcoins.

She said the majority of her investment portfolio is concentrated in Bitcoin and the S&P 500.

Her busy schedule also means she does not actively trade very often.

According to Chen, less than 1% of her portfolio is invested in Ethereum and Solana.

However, one altcoin has caught her attention: Hyperliquid’s HYPE token.

Chen said she remains optimistic about Hyperliquid, particularly if regulators create a pathway for the platform to operate legally within the U.S. market.

A more crypto-friendly regulatory environment could potentially strengthen its long-term prospects.

Chen Remains Skeptical of Memecoins

Chen is far less optimistic about memecoins.

She does not expect another speculative memecoin cycle on the same scale as previous market booms.

Her reasoning is that many retail investors suffered substantial losses during earlier waves of memecoin speculation and may now be more cautious about taking similar risks.

That could make it harder for the sector to recreate the extreme enthusiasm seen during previous crypto cycles.

Bitcoin at $1 Million by 2030? Chen Is Not Convinced

Chen is also skeptical about predictions that Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030.

Several prominent crypto figures have suggested such a target is possible, but Chen believes Bitcoin’s historical performance makes that scenario difficult to justify.

Her main concern is Bitcoin’s diminishing returns across successive four-year market cycles.

Chen noted that the gap between Bitcoin’s cycle lows and subsequent all-time highs has gradually narrowed.

If that pattern continues, future Bitcoin rallies could still generate substantial returns, but they may become progressively smaller compared with earlier cycles.

Bitcoin Outlook Remains Highly Uncertain

Bitcoin’s rebound toward $79,000 has improved sentiment across the crypto market, but Chen’s cautious stance highlights the uncertainty surrounding the next major move.

While she is prepared to buy additional Bitcoin near $50,000, she also accepts that BTC could continue climbing instead.

For investors, the contrasting forecasts demonstrate how divided the market remains over whether Bitcoin’s latest rally represents the beginning of a sustained recovery or simply another rebound before further volatility.
