Bitcoin extended its recovery on Wednesday, climbing above $82,000 as positive corporate earnings in the United States helped improve investor confidence.
However, the cryptocurrency market remained under pressure from rising oil prices, higher Treasury yields, and uncertainty surrounding the artificial intelligence sector.
Bitcoin gained 1.1% to $82,707.20 by 02:29 ET (06:29 GMT), building on its modest rebound from the previous trading session.
Despite the latest increase, broader economic concerns continued to limit the cryptocurrency’s upside potential.
Bitcoin Price Struggles Amid Global Market Uncertainty
The Bitcoin price has remained largely confined to a trading range between $80,000 and $87,000 over the past month.
Several economic and geopolitical developments have weakened demand for cryptocurrencies and other speculative investments.
One of the biggest concerns has been the possibility of higher interest rates, which contributed to a sharp increase in US Treasury yields throughout October.
Rising Treasury yields typically reduce investor appetite for riskier assets, including Bitcoin, as traditional fixed-income investments become more attractive.
This pressure previously pushed Bitcoin toward the $80,000 level, highlighting the cryptocurrency’s sensitivity to changing monetary policy expectations.
Meanwhile, renewed increases in global oil prices have added another layer of uncertainty.
Crude oil remained near five-month highs as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine raised concerns about potential supply disruptions.
Higher energy prices could also complicate the inflation outlook, potentially influencing future interest rate decisions.
Bitcoin Faces Another Disappointing October
Despite recording strong gains during the previous three months, Bitcoin has struggled to maintain its upward momentum in October.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency was trading approximately 1% lower for the month, raising questions about whether its historically favorable October performance would materialize.
Crypto investors often refer to October as “Uptober,” reflecting Bitcoin’s tendency to deliver positive returns during the month.
However, the cryptocurrency was at risk of missing this seasonal pattern for the second consecutive year.
Institutional investment activity offered some encouragement.
Inflows into US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recovered this week following two consecutive weeks of withdrawals.
Nevertheless, the renewed demand had yet to translate into a meaningful Bitcoin price breakout.
The disconnect between improving ETF flows and limited price gains suggested that broader macroeconomic uncertainty continued to influence market sentiment.
Ethereum, XRP and Major Altcoins Record Modest Gains
The broader cryptocurrency market also moved higher on Wednesday, following Bitcoin’s recovery.
However, most major digital assets continued to show relatively weak performance for October as the strong momentum seen during the third quarter faded.
Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, advanced 1.8% to $2,442.67.
Meanwhile, XRP gained 2.6%, supported by the broader improvement in crypto market sentiment.
Other major cryptocurrencies also posted gains:
- Solana (SOL): Rose 1.3%.
- Cardano (ADA): Increased 2.8%.
- BNB: Advanced 2%.
- Dogecoin (DOGE): Climbed 2.8%.
- Official Trump (TRUMP): Gained 5.5%.
Although these increases provided some short-term relief, overall cryptocurrency market momentum remained subdued.
Oil Prices and AI Concerns Remain Key Risks for Crypto
Looking ahead, investors are closely monitoring developments in energy markets, US interest rate expectations, and the artificial intelligence industry.
Uncertainty surrounding the long-term profitability and valuations of AI-related companies has contributed to broader fluctuations in risk appetite.
At the same time, elevated oil prices could reinforce inflation concerns and increase the possibility of tighter monetary conditions.
For Bitcoin, a sustained recovery may depend on improving investor confidence, stronger institutional inflows, and reduced pressure from global bond markets.
Until these conditions improve, Bitcoin could remain vulnerable to further volatility, particularly while trading within its established $80,000 to $87,000 range.
