ASML stock climbed on Wednesday after the Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer raised its 2026 sales forecast following record third-quarter revenue. Strong investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure continued to drive demand for advanced chipmaking technology.

The company now expects full-year net sales between €44 billion and €45 billion, compared with its previous forecast of €43 billion to €45 billion.

ASML also projects a gross profit margin of approximately 56% for 2026.

Following the announcement, shares advanced 2.5% during early trading in Amsterdam, reflecting investor optimism surrounding the company’s financial performance and growth prospects.

ASML Reports Record Q3 Sales as AI Demand Accelerates

ASML delivered a strong third-quarter performance, supported by growing demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Quarterly net sales reached a record €11.66 billion, increasing from €9.33 billion in the previous quarter.

Net income also rose sharply to €4.96 billion, compared with €2.92 billion in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, the company’s gross margin improved to 57.5%, up from 54% in the preceding quarter.

The results highlight ASML’s important position within the global semiconductor industry, particularly as technology companies continue expanding their artificial intelligence capabilities.

Growing investment in AI infrastructure has increased demand for advanced manufacturing equipment used to produce high-performance chips.

ASML Plans Further Production Capacity Expansion

ASML Chief Executive Christophe Fouquet emphasized that customers continue to increase their equipment demand forecasts for both the near and medium term.

According to Fouquet, these upward revisions primarily reflect expectations that AI-related investments will remain substantial over an extended period.

Some customers have even expressed interest in securing equipment orders for delivery in 2029 and 2030.

However, the company expects demand to exceed its currently planned production capacity in both 2027 and 2028.

To address this anticipated shortfall, ASML is exploring opportunities to expand manufacturing capacity beyond its existing targets.

The company had previously outlined plans to increase production capacity by approximately 30% by 2028.

Management is now examining whether additional expansion could help meet the semiconductor industry’s growing equipment requirements.

These developments suggest that demand for advanced chipmaking technology could remain strong well beyond the current investment cycle.

Analysts Remain Cautious Despite Strong ASML Outlook

Despite the encouraging financial results and stronger sales guidance, some market analysts remain cautious about the stock’s potential for further gains.

Analysts at Jefferies noted that investors had already widely anticipated higher production capacity expectations for 2027 and 2028.

Consequently, the announcements may provide limited additional support for ASML’s share price.

Jefferies also expects valuation multiples across ASML and the broader semiconductor sector to face further cyclical pressure.

Such a development could restrict potential stock market gains even if underlying business demand remains robust.

The assessment highlights the distinction between strong corporate fundamentals and the market valuations investors are willing to assign to semiconductor companies.

ASML Forecasts Strong Fourth-Quarter Revenue

Looking ahead, ASML expects to maintain its positive operating momentum during the final quarter of 2026.

The company forecasts fourth-quarter net sales between €14.2 billion and €15.2 billion.

It also anticipates a gross margin of approximately 57%, broadly consistent with its strong third-quarter profitability.

The outlook reflects management’s confidence in continued customer investment and demand for advanced semiconductor production technology.

However, investors will continue monitoring ASML’s ability to expand manufacturing capacity while maintaining profitability.

With artificial intelligence investment driving semiconductor equipment demand, the company’s production expansion strategy could play an important role in determining its longer-term growth trajectory.
