Bitcoin Struggles Below $84,000 as Tech Stock Selloff Pressures Crypto Markets

Bitcoin remained under pressure on Tuesday, struggling to recover as a sharp selloff in global technology stocks dampened demand for cryptocurrencies and other risk-sensitive assets.

The Bitcoin price declined 0.4% to $83,673.10 as of 01:56 ET (05:56 GMT), after briefly falling to an intraday low of $81,054.70.

The broader cryptocurrency market also weakened, extending October’s profit-taking following strong gains during the third quarter.

Despite October’s historical reputation as a favorable month for cryptocurrencies, limited regulatory developments and a lack of significant buying activity have prevented a meaningful market recovery.

Bitcoin Price Faces Pressure From Global Tech Stock Selloff

Bitcoin’s latest decline comes amid growing investor caution following substantial losses across artificial intelligence and technology stocks worldwide.

AI-related companies have faced increased selling pressure as investors question whether heavy investments in artificial intelligence will generate the expected long-term returns.

Concerns intensified after a recent report indicated that OpenAI’s revenue during 2026 had fallen short of earlier projections.

Semiconductor stocks also suffered losses as technological developments in China raised concerns about increasing chip supplies and potential downward pressure on AI-related pricing.

Although these developments do not directly affect Bitcoin’s fundamentals, they have contributed to a broader reduction in investors’ appetite for risk.

As a result, cryptocurrencies have struggled alongside technology shares, while traditional safe-haven assets, including gold and the Japanese yen, have attracted renewed interest.

Dormant Bitcoin Whale Transfers 5,582 BTC After Six Years

A large Bitcoin wallet dating back to 2019 became active on Monday after approximately six years of inactivity, transferring 5,582 BTC.

Blockchain transaction data showed that the funds were distributed across five separate addresses. However, the transferred Bitcoin remained in those wallets, with no confirmed selling activity reported.

The transaction attracted attention amid a broader increase in movements involving large Bitcoin holders, commonly known as whales.

Such transfers can sometimes precede cryptocurrency sales, particularly when funds are subsequently moved to trading exchanges.

Nevertheless, wallet movements alone do not confirm an intention to sell, and the transferred funds had not been observed entering exchanges.

Large transactions involving previously inactive Bitcoin wallets often attract market attention because of their potential implications for liquidity and selling pressure.

Ethereum, XRP and Major Altcoins Extend Losses

The weakness in Bitcoin spread across the broader cryptocurrency market on Tuesday, with several leading altcoins posting noticeable declines.

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, slipped 1.4% to $2,534.41, while XRP lost 2.7%.

Cardano recorded a sharper decline of 5.3%, while Solana dropped 3.6%. BNB also moved lower, shedding 1.3%.

Meme cryptocurrencies followed the broader market downturn. Dogecoin declined 3%, while the TRUMP token fell 1.9%.

The widespread losses highlighted continued caution among cryptocurrency investors as technology stock weakness and uncertainty surrounding risk assets weighed on sentiment.

Crypto Market Outlook Remains Tied to Risk Appetite

Bitcoin’s struggle to regain the $84,000 level underscores the challenges facing cryptocurrency markets amid heightened global financial uncertainty.

While October has historically delivered strong returns for Bitcoin, seasonal patterns alone have not been sufficient to overcome current selling pressure.

Investors are now monitoring developments in technology stocks, institutional cryptocurrency demand, and potential regulatory catalysts for signs of renewed market momentum.

Until broader risk appetite improves, Bitcoin and major altcoins could remain vulnerable to further volatility.
