Binance Bitcoin Outflows Hit Highest Level Since 2023 as Whales Add Stablecoins

Bitcoin outflows from Binance surged to their highest level in more than three years in late September, while large investors increased stablecoin deposits to the exchange.

Onchain data suggests that Binance Bitcoin reserves have fallen by nearly 40,000 BTC since September 20, pointing to a possible increase in long-term accumulation.

At the same time, whale stablecoin inflows to Binance have climbed sharply, potentially giving large investors more capital to deploy into the crypto market.

Binance Records Largest Bitcoin Outflow Since 2023

Data from CryptoQuant shows that Binance recorded net Bitcoin outflows of 23,137 BTC during the seven days ending September 27.

That marked the exchange’s largest weekly Bitcoin outflow since June 2023.

During that earlier period, Binance’s BTC balance fell by 44,942 Bitcoin in a single week.

Although the latest outflow is smaller, CryptoQuant noted that the market conditions surrounding both periods show similarities.

Falling Exchange Reserves May Signal Accumulation

Bitcoin moving away from exchanges is often interpreted as a sign that investors intend to hold their assets for a longer period.

When BTC is transferred to private wallets, it is generally less likely to be sold immediately.

CryptoQuant therefore views the recent decline in Binance Bitcoin reserves as a potentially positive signal for the market.

Since September 20, the exchange’s reserves have dropped by almost 40,000 BTC.

Previous Binance Outflows Preceded a Bitcoin Rally

The last major withdrawal wave in June 2023 was followed by a strong Bitcoin price move.

BTC/USD climbed from around $26,300 to $30,500 during the following weekly candle.

That move pushed Bitcoin to a new 12-month high and formed part of its recovery from the 2022 bear market.

CryptoQuant believes the current decline in exchange reserves could create similar conditions if selling pressure continues to weaken.

Bitcoin Remains Stuck in a Trading Range

Despite the strong outflows, Bitcoin has remained within a relatively narrow range.

BTC/USD has traded between approximately $82,500 and $87,400 since September 21.

Liquidity levels on major exchanges have played an important role in short-term price movements.

The 2026 yearly opening level near $87,570 also remains an important area of resistance.

A decisive move above that zone could improve the chances of Bitcoin breaking out of its current consolidation phase.

Whale Stablecoin Inflows Rise 40%

Separate data shows that large Bitcoin and crypto investors have also increased stablecoin deposits to Binance.

Between August 15 and the end of September, the 30-day rolling stablecoin inflows from whale entities rose by approximately 40%.

Those inflows increased from around $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion.

Stablecoins Could Provide Fresh Buying Power

Stablecoin balances on exchanges are often viewed as available capital that can quickly move into Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

As a result, rising stablecoin deposits can indicate growing willingness among investors to increase their market exposure.

The latest increase comes after an extended period of weaker whale inflows.

CryptoQuant noted that stablecoin deposits remain below the October 2025 peak, when rolling inflows exceeded $61 billion.

Bitcoin Breakout Could Gain Support

The combination of falling Bitcoin reserves and rising stablecoin balances could become important for Bitcoin’s next major move.

Lower BTC balances on Binance may reduce immediate selling pressure, while higher stablecoin deposits provide additional liquidity that could be used to purchase crypto assets.

If this trend continues, it could increase the chances of Bitcoin breaking out of its current trading range.
