Tensions in the U.S.-Iran war continue to rise after Iran denied that it plans to hold peace negotiations with Washington. The statement contradicts President Donald Trump’s claim that Iranian officials had contacted the United States and wanted to reach an agreement.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin surrendered part of its earlier gains and dropped below $65,000 as investors reacted to renewed military action between the two countries.
Iran Denies Plans for U.S. Peace Talks
Speaking to reporters, a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Tehran currently has no intention of entering negotiations with the United States. According to the spokesperson, Iran remains focused on defending itself against ongoing military attacks.
The comments followed an earlier interview in which Trump claimed that Iran had contacted the United States and expressed interest in making a deal.
However, Iran’s latest statement suggests that diplomatic talks are not currently part of Tehran’s immediate strategy.
U.S.-Iran Conflict Escalates Again
Military tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified in recent days, with both sides reportedly carrying out additional airstrikes.
Trump has also reinstated restrictions connected to the Strait of Hormuz and warned that the United States could expand its military campaign unless Iran returns to the negotiating table.
The growing conflict has increased concerns about global energy supplies, commercial shipping and wider financial-market stability.
Bitcoin Falls Below $65,000
Bitcoin turned negative following Iran’s rejection of peace talks, falling to approximately $64,800. The cryptocurrency was down by less than 1% at the time of reporting.
Earlier in the day, the broader crypto market had moved higher after U.S. Producer Price Index data came in below expectations. Softer inflation figures had initially improved investor sentiment.
Nevertheless, renewed geopolitical uncertainty quickly weakened that momentum. Traders now fear that further escalation in the U.S.-Iran war could trigger another decline across Bitcoin and the wider cryptocurrency market.
U.S. Announces Fresh Strikes Against Iran
The U.S. Central Command confirmed that American forces had completed another round of strikes against Iranian targets.
According to CENTCOM, precision weapons were used against coastal defense systems and cruise-missile storage and launch facilities on Greater Tunb Island. The operation was reportedly intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.
The strategically important waterway remains a major focus of the conflict because a significant share of global energy shipments passes through the region.
Prediction Markets See Limited Chance of Negotiations
Crypto traders and prediction-market participants appear doubtful that another round of peace talks will take place soon.
Polymarket data reportedly assigned only a 20% probability to U.S.-Iran negotiations occurring before the end of the month. This suggests that market participants expect military and diplomatic tensions to remain elevated in the near term.
Meanwhile, Iranian official Mohammad Qalibaf is expected to release a statement addressing the conflict and Iran’s latest position. His comments could provide further clarity about Tehran’s response and whether future negotiations remain possible.
