President Donald Trump announced a nuclear agreement with Iran that includes long-term inspections of the country’s nuclear facilities. The deal also ends the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The agreement could have major implications for Middle East security, international shipping and global oil markets.

Iran Accepts Long-Term Nuclear Inspections

Under the agreement, Iran has accepted extensive international oversight of its nuclear programme.

Trump said Tehran had agreed to the highest level of nuclear inspections for an indefinite period. According to the president, these measures are intended to ensure transparency and prevent the development of nuclear weapons.

Trump described the inspection commitments as essential to maintaining what he called “nuclear honesty.”

He also said that negotiations would not have continued without Iran accepting these conditions.

US Ends Strait of Hormuz Blockade

The United States has lifted its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing commercial vessels to resume normal operations through the strategic waterway.

The strait is one of the world’s most important energy routes, carrying a significant share of global oil and gas shipments.

US naval forces will remain in the region as a precaution. However, Trump said the possibility of restoring the blockade currently appears highly unlikely.

Oil Shipments Resume Through Hormuz

Trump said approximately 19 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

He described the volume as an all-time record, highlighting the rapid recovery in shipping activity following the end of the blockade.

Oil prices moved lower after the waterway reopened, as traders reduced the geopolitical risk premium built into crude prices.

The resumption of normal traffic has eased concerns about potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

Iran Receives Limited Sanctions Relief

The nuclear agreement also includes targeted sanctions relief aimed at addressing Iran’s humanitarian crisis.

Released funds will be placed in an escrow account controlled by the United States. Iran will only be allowed to use the money to purchase food and medical supplies.

This structure is intended to ensure that the funds are directed toward humanitarian needs rather than military or nuclear activities.

Iran to Buy US Food and Medical Supplies

The approved purchases will include American agricultural products such as corn, wheat and soybeans.

According to Trump, these goods are urgently needed by the Iranian population.

The arrangement could also benefit US farmers by creating additional demand for American agricultural exports.

Medical supplies will form another central part of the programme as Washington seeks to provide relief without removing broader economic restrictions.

Trump Highlights Iran’s Humanitarian Crisis

Trump described conditions in Iran as a humanitarian emergency requiring immediate action.

He said assistance was necessary before the situation deteriorated further.

The agreement therefore combines nuclear oversight, maritime security and limited humanitarian relief within a broader diplomatic framework between the United States and Iran.
