Swiss Inflation Rises to 0.6% in April
Switzerland’s consumer prices increased by 0.6% year-over-year in April, according to the latest data released by Swiss Federal Statistical Office.
This marks a notable acceleration compared to the 0.3% inflation rate recorded in March.
Second Consecutive Monthly Increase
April’s reading represents the second straight monthly rise in inflation, pushing it to the highest level since December 2024. The steady increase signals growing price pressures within the Swiss economy.
Energy Costs Drive Inflation Higher
The statistics agency attributed the rise primarily to higher imported energy costs. These increases are linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly the conflict involving Iran, which has disrupted global energy supply chains.
Impact of Global Supply Disruptions
Rising energy prices have effectively doubled Switzerland’s inflation rate compared to the previous month. This highlights how global supply shocks continue to influence the country’s consumer price index and overall inflation dynamics.
