Strategy resumed its Bitcoin accumulation strategy after a two-week pause, purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million while also spending $174 million to repurchase STRC preferred stock.
The latest transactions show that Michael Saylor’s company is continuing to expand its Bitcoin holdings while actively managing its capital structure and preferred securities.
Strategy Adds 950 Bitcoin to Its Treasury
According to a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Strategy acquired 950 Bitcoin between Monday and Sunday.
The company paid approximately $75.7 million, with an average purchase price of $79,670 per Bitcoin.
The acquisition increased Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC.
Strategy has spent approximately $63.8 billion building its Bitcoin position, including fees and other expenses. Its average acquisition price now stands at around $75,416 per BTC.
Strategy’s Bitcoin Holdings Show Large Unrealized Gain
At the time of publication, Bitcoin was trading near $84,925.
At that price, Strategy’s Bitcoin portfolio was carrying an unrealized gain of approximately $8.05 billion.
The company remains the largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, making its purchases closely watched by cryptocurrency investors.
Strategy continues to balance aggressive Bitcoin accumulation with the management of preferred shares, debt obligations and substantial cash reserves.
Strategy Shares Rise in Pre-Market Trading
Strategy shares gained 7.4% to $165.20 during Monday’s pre-market session, according to Yahoo Finance data.
The move came as Bitcoin treasury companies attracted renewed attention from investors.
Strive, another major corporate Bitcoin holder, also announced a new purchase on Monday.
The company acquired 1,355 BTC during the previous week, raising its total holdings to 26,355 Bitcoin.
Strive shares increased 6.44% to $32.03 in pre-market trading.
Strategy Repurchases $174 Million of STRC
Alongside its Bitcoin purchase, Strategy continued buying back its perpetual preferred stock, STRC.
The company repurchased approximately 1.77 million STRC shares for $174 million during the same period.
STRC gained around 0.35% to $98.85 in Monday’s pre-market trading.
Strategy said it still had approximately $875.1 million available under its preferred-stock repurchase program.
The company also has about $1 billion remaining under its MSTR share repurchase authorization.
No New Capital Raised Through ATM Programs
Strategy reported no sales under its at-the-market offering programs between September 14 and September 20.
This means the company did not raise additional capital through those programs during the reporting period.
The development is notable because Strategy has frequently used capital markets to help finance Bitcoin purchases and manage its wider balance sheet.
Strategy’s Available Cash Declines
Strategy’s USD Cash balance dropped by nearly 20% to approximately $1.05 billion, down from $1.30 billion one week earlier.
Its separate USD Reserve also declined slightly, falling to around $5.04 billion from $5.10 billion.
The company used approximately $57.4 million to cover preferred-stock dividends and interest payments on outstanding debt.
USD Cash and USD Reserve Serve Different Purposes
Strategy uses its USD Cash position for broader treasury activities.
These can include Bitcoin purchases, liquidity management and other capital allocation decisions.
The company’s USD Reserve has a more specific role. It is primarily intended to support preferred-stock dividends and interest payments on debt.
The distinction gives Strategy greater flexibility in managing both its Bitcoin accumulation strategy and its financial obligations.
Strategy Continues Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy
The latest purchase reinforces Strategy’s long-term commitment to Bitcoin.
Despite taking a brief two-week break from buying, the company has returned to the market with another substantial BTC acquisition.
At the same time, the $174 million STRC repurchase highlights Strategy’s efforts to manage its preferred securities alongside its growing Bitcoin treasury.
Investors will continue to monitor Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases, cash position and capital-market activity as the company expands one of the largest corporate Bitcoin portfolios in the world.
