Spirit Airlines in Advanced Talks for Government Financing
A lawyer representing Spirit Airlines confirmed on Thursday that the bankrupt carrier is engaged in advanced discussions with the federal government over a major financing package. The proposed funding is expected to play a key role in supporting the airline’s ongoing restructuring efforts.
Financing Package Aimed at Strengthening the Airline
During a bankruptcy court hearing in New York, attorney Marshall Huebner stated that details of the proposed financing have already been shared with the airline’s main creditor groups. He emphasized that the potential agreement could go beyond simply enabling the company’s reorganization.
According to Huebner, the government-backed financing could position Spirit Airlines as a well-capitalized and highly competitive player in the aviation sector, once the restructuring process is complete.
