China’s ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) (SS:688825) projected an extraordinary increase in revenue for the first nine months of 2026, supported by booming artificial intelligence demand and rising memory chip prices.

Despite the company’s exceptionally strong financial outlook, CXMT shares declined sharply on Monday as investors reassessed valuations and growth expectations across China’s AI semiconductor industry.

The contrasting developments highlight the increasingly demanding expectations facing technology companies benefiting from the global artificial intelligence boom.

CXMT Forecasts Eightfold Revenue Growth as AI Chip Demand Surges

ChangXin Memory Technologies expects revenue between 265 billion yuan and 270 billion yuan ($39.6 billion to $40.4 billion) for the January-September 2026 period.

This represents an increase of more than eight times compared with the 32.08 billion yuan recorded during the corresponding period last year.

The company disclosed the projections in its preliminary earnings estimate, reflecting substantial improvements in demand, pricing and operational performance.

According to CXMT, the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure has significantly increased demand for memory semiconductors, particularly dynamic random access memory (DRAM).

Meanwhile, tightening global DRAM supplies and considerable price increases since the second half of 2025 have further strengthened the company’s financial performance.

ChangXin Memory Technologies Expects Major Profit Turnaround

In addition to its impressive revenue forecast, CXMT expects a dramatic improvement in profitability.

Net profit attributable to shareholders is projected to reach between 131 billion yuan and 132.5 billion yuan during the first nine months of 2026.

The forecast represents a substantial turnaround from the 5.28 billion yuan net loss reported during the same period in 2025.

Several operational improvements have contributed to the company’s stronger earnings outlook.

Higher manufacturing capacity utilization has helped CXMT increase production efficiency, while improved semiconductor manufacturing yields have supported profitability.

Furthermore, continued investment in research and development has strengthened the company’s technological capabilities and manufacturing operations.

Combined with rising memory chip prices, these factors have created more favorable conditions for the Chinese semiconductor manufacturer.

CXMT Shares Slide 7.6% Despite Strong Earnings Forecast

Despite the optimistic financial projections, investors reacted negatively to the company’s latest announcement.

Shanghai-listed CXMT shares fell 7.6% to 41.58 yuan by 04:55 GMT on Monday.

The decline pushed the stock to its lowest level since its stock market debut on July 27.

The negative market reaction illustrates the challenges facing artificial intelligence-related companies as investors maintain exceptionally high expectations for future earnings and growth.

Although CXMT anticipates substantial increases in both revenue and profitability, its shares remain vulnerable to shifts in investor sentiment and concerns about elevated technology sector valuations.

The selloff also demonstrates that even exceptionally strong earnings forecasts may not be sufficient to support share prices when market expectations are already demanding.

AI Demand and DRAM Prices Remain Key Growth Drivers

The outlook for ChangXin Memory Technologies remains closely linked to expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure and developments in the global semiconductor market.

Increasing demand for AI computing power has strengthened the market for memory chips, while restricted DRAM supply has contributed to higher selling prices.

These industry conditions have provided a significant boost to CXMT’s expected financial results.

However, investors will continue monitoring whether elevated memory prices and strong demand can be sustained over the longer term.

The company confirmed that its final financial results will be published in its third-quarter earnings report.

Until then, CXMT’s preliminary projections suggest exceptionally strong business momentum, even as its share price reflects continued caution among investors.
