Bitcoin traded slightly higher on Sunday, holding above the $85,000 level as investors assessed a new U.S. regulatory development that could expand access to leveraged cryptocurrency exposure.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency was last up around 0.44% at $85,386, after briefly moving above $87,000 earlier in the week.
Bitcoin has since remained within a relatively narrow trading range.
SEC Approves New Leveraged Crypto Products
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved a Cboe BZX rule change on Friday that allows the exchange to list six triple-leveraged exchange-traded products from Volatility Shares.
The products are designed to target three times the daily performance of Bitcoin, Ether, gold, silver, crude oil and natural gas.
The Bitcoin and Ether products would gain leveraged exposure through futures contracts rather than directly holding the cryptocurrencies.
However, the approval does not mean the products can begin trading immediately.
Additional registration requirements must still be completed before shares can be offered to investors.
Bitcoin Investors Watch U.S. Crypto Regulation
The latest decision provides another potential route for investors seeking exposure to cryptocurrencies through regulated financial products.
It comes after the SEC separately proposed changes to cryptocurrency custody rules earlier in the week.
Those custody proposals became a major focus for Bitcoin traders on Friday as investors evaluated how future regulatory changes could affect institutional participation in digital assets.
Crypto Industry Hiring Shows Signs of Recovery
Beyond regulation, there are also signs that activity across the cryptocurrency industry is improving.
CryptoJobsList recorded 1,241 crypto-related job openings in September, up sharply from 382 positions in July.
Finance represented the largest employment category, followed by engineering and trading roles.
Bitcoin was also the most frequently requested blockchain expertise among listed positions.
The increase in hiring could indicate improving confidence across parts of the digital-asset industry.
AI Agents Could Create New Blockchain Demand
Artificial intelligence may also become an increasingly important driver of blockchain activity.
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood has suggested that investors should pay closer attention to AI agents as these systems evolve from simply answering questions to independently completing transactions.
Open blockchain networks and stablecoins are being considered as possible payment infrastructure for autonomous AI systems.
Such technology could allow AI agents to pay independently for services including computing power, digital information and other online resources.
BlackRock has also discussed the possibility that autonomous AI agents could eventually create demand for machine-to-machine payment networks.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong recently said Grok had emerged as a leading client for agentic traders using Coinbase, although he did not provide specific usage figures.
Bitcoin Remains Popular as a Scarce Asset
Separately, Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki again expressed support for Bitcoin as a potential hedge against monetary instability.
Kiyosaki has frequently compared ownership of scarce assets with long-term financial preparation.
Alongside Bitcoin, he has also highlighted assets such as gold, silver and oil.
Ethereum, XRP and Solana Trade Higher
Major cryptocurrencies delivered mixed performance during early Sunday trading.
Ether, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, rose around 0.65% to $2,694.78.
XRP gained approximately 0.42% to $1.4917, while Solana advanced around 0.98% to $120.77.
BNB recorded one of the stronger moves among major tokens, climbing around 2.51% to $786.31.
Cardano and Dogecoin Slip
Some major altcoins moved lower.
Cardano fell approximately 0.89% to $0.2439, while Dogecoin declined around 0.23%.
Among meme coins, TRUMP surged more than 112%, while Shiba Inu gained approximately 0.18%.
Bitcoin Outlook Remains Focused on Regulation and Institutional Access
Bitcoin’s ability to remain above $85,000 suggests that traders are continuing to balance regulatory developments with broader cryptocurrency-market conditions.
The approval of leveraged crypto products could eventually widen access for traders seeking more aggressive exposure to Bitcoin and Ether.
At the same time, developments in AI payments, institutional adoption and crypto-industry activity could provide additional long-term catalysts.
For now, investors are likely to keep watching U.S. regulatory decisions closely as Bitcoin consolidates near recent highs.
