Meta Platforms unveiled a new palm-sized device on Wednesday designed specifically for its Muse artificial intelligence agent.
The company also introduced several additions to its smart glasses lineup, including a new model without a built-in camera.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg presented the products during the opening keynote of Meta Connect 2026 in Menlo Park, California.
Meta Introduces the Muse Charm
The new handheld device, called the Muse Charm, features a compact display and built-in 5G connectivity.
The device allows users to interact directly with their Muse AI agents without relying on a smartphone.
Meta plans to make the Muse Charm available for purchase by December.
The launch forms part of a broader expansion of Meta’s hardware and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Meta Expands Its Smart Glasses Lineup
Alongside the Muse Charm, Zuckerberg introduced several other products during Meta Connect 2026.
These included camera-free smart glasses, new virtual reality glasses and additional features for the company’s Muse AI platform.
Meta also plans to integrate Muse more deeply into its AI-powered smart glasses.
Users will have additional customization options for their Muse agents, including the ability to change their appearance and voice.
Zuckerberg Sees Muse Becoming a Major AI Platform
Zuckerberg outlined ambitious plans for the future of Muse, describing the AI agent as a technology that could eventually become a widely used form of personal superintelligence.
Meta is also exploring ways for users to generate financial returns through the platform.
The company plans to provide access to Muse with a large amount of free usage before introducing a relatively small transaction fee for certain activities.
This approach could help Meta attract users while developing new revenue streams around its AI ecosystem.
Muse Gains Computer Control Capabilities
Meta Chief AI Officer Alexander Wang also revealed new capabilities for the Muse platform.
Muse will now be able to interact directly with a user’s computer, expanding the range of tasks the AI agent can perform.
Meta is also developing what it calls “connectors,” which allow Muse to communicate with applications and services from partner companies.
These integrations could make the AI agent more useful for everyday tasks without requiring users to switch between multiple platforms.
Meta Targets AI-Powered Shopping
E-commerce is emerging as one of Meta’s main areas of focus for Muse.
Wang highlighted agentic shopping as a significant feature, allowing AI agents to assist users with finding and potentially purchasing products.
Meta also announced expanded Muse integrations with major retailers, including Walmart and Best Buy.
The partnerships could strengthen Meta’s position in AI-powered commerce as technology companies increasingly develop agents capable of completing tasks on behalf of users.
Muse App Surges in Popularity
Meta initially released Muse as a smartphone application in early September.
The app quickly gained users and recently overtook OpenAI’s ChatGPT as the most downloaded application on Apple’s U.S. App Store.
The strong consumer response has also contributed to optimism surrounding artificial intelligence stocks.
Investors are increasingly watching whether growing adoption of consumer AI products can translate into higher demand and new revenue opportunities across the technology sector.
Meta Shares React to Connect 2026 Announcements
Meta shares initially fell as much as 1.5% in after-hours trading following the announcements.
However, the stock later recovered some of those losses and was down approximately 0.4% by 20:40 ET, or 00:40 GMT.
Investors will now be watching the commercial launch of the Muse Charm and Meta’s broader efforts to turn Muse into a central part of its expanding AI hardware and software ecosystem.
