Japan’s SBI Holdings, a long-standing Ripple partner, has made another investment in UAE-based stablecoin payments company Fasset, valuing the firm at approximately $1 billion based on the latest share acquisition price.
The new investment follows SBI’s previous strategic backing of Fasset in May 2026 and strengthens the companies’ growing partnership in stablecoin payments, cross-border remittances, and digital banking.
SBI Holdings Deepens Investment in Fasset
SBI Holdings has maintained a close relationship with Ripple for years and continues to expand its presence across blockchain-based financial services.
Its latest investment in Fasset highlights the Japanese financial group’s growing focus on digital assets, stablecoin infrastructure, and international payment services.
Fasset currently provides stablecoin-based payment, remittance, and investment services across markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
The company’s infrastructure connects multiple blockchain networks with traditional banking corridors, helping users move funds across borders.
Fasset also operates thousands of digital wallets across more than 100 countries and regions.
Fasset Could Become an SBI Equity-Method Affiliate
Following the latest investment, SBI Holdings plans to deepen its relationship with Fasset even further.
After Fasset completes its Series C funding round, SBI intends to exercise warrants that could turn the UAE-based company into an equity-method affiliate.
The move would give SBI a closer financial and strategic relationship with Fasset as both companies expand their digital-finance operations.
SBI and Fasset Plan Digital Bank in Malaysia
One of the most significant parts of the partnership involves plans for a digital bank in Malaysia.
SBI and Fasset are currently discussing a joint banking venture that would use digital assets and stablecoin-based financial infrastructure.
The companies also plan to cooperate around tokens issued by Fasset.
In addition, SBI Remit, a subsidiary of the SBI Group focused on international money transfers, has already partnered with Fasset to develop next-generation global remittance infrastructure.
The collaboration could help the companies improve the efficiency of international payments while expanding access to blockchain-based financial services.
Stablecoin Payments Become a Major Focus
Fasset’s business model is centered around using stablecoins to make international payments and financial services more accessible.
By combining blockchain networks with conventional banking infrastructure, the company aims to reduce barriers between traditional finance and digital assets.
For SBI, the partnership provides another opportunity to expand beyond its existing blockchain relationships while strengthening its position in the global stablecoin market.
The investment also reflects growing institutional interest in using stablecoins for cross-border payments, remittances, and digital banking services.
SBI Chairman Highlights Fasset’s Global Potential
SBI Holdings Chairman and President Yoshitaka Kitao said Fasset’s vision is aligned with the direction the SBI Group is pursuing through digital finance.
Kitao also described Fasset as a potential financial bridge that could connect Japan with rapidly growing international markets.
His comments highlight SBI’s broader ambition to build financial infrastructure that links established markets with regions where digital finance adoption is accelerating.
Fasset CEO Welcomes SBI Investment
Fasset CEO and Co-Founder Mohammad Raafi Hossain also welcomed SBI’s decision to lead the latest investment round.
According to Hossain, the partnership is particularly meaningful because the two companies share a similar view about the role financial services should play in delivering practical value to individuals and communities.
The companies believe that combining SBI’s experience in traditional financial services with Fasset’s stablecoin technology could create new opportunities in regions where access to conventional banking remains limited.
SBI Expands Its Digital Finance Strategy
The latest investment strengthens SBI Holdings’ push into blockchain-powered financial infrastructure.
While the Japanese company remains closely associated with Ripple, its partnership with Fasset demonstrates a broader strategy focused on stablecoins, international remittances, and digital banking.
The planned Malaysian digital bank and expanded stablecoin services could become important parts of that strategy as SBI and Fasset target rapidly growing financial markets across Asia and other regions.
Their partnership will now be closely watched as both companies work to combine traditional banking expertise with blockchain-based payment infrastructure.
