Japan Factory Output Rises 0.5% in May

Japan’s factory output increased by 0.5% in May compared with the previous month, government data showed on Tuesday.

However, the result came in below the median market forecast of 1.1% growth.

Manufacturers Expect Stronger June Production

Manufacturers surveyed by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expect industrial output to rise by 3.7% in June.

The survey also showed that companies expect production to remain unchanged in July on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The forecasts suggest that Japan’s manufacturing sector could gain momentum in June before stabilizing the following month.
