Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings, a long-time partner of Ripple, has announced a major partnership with artificial intelligence company Anthropic. Through the collaboration, SBI plans to deploy Anthropic’s Claude AI platform across its entire business ecosystem, becoming the first financial institution in Japan to implement Claude on a company-wide scale.
SBI Holdings Expands AI Strategy With Anthropic Partnership
The agreement will allow SBI Holdings to integrate Claude AI throughout its banking, securities, insurance, asset management, cryptocurrency, and media operations.
Beyond improving internal productivity, the company also intends to explore the development of new AI-powered financial products and services that could enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.
As part of the collaboration, Anthropic will provide SBI Holdings with access to the latest Claude AI features, advanced security capabilities, engineering support, and future platform innovations.
Focus On Financial AI And Cybersecurity
A key objective of the partnership is the development of specialized AI agents designed specifically for Japan’s financial services and cybersecurity industries.
Both companies emphasized that these solutions will be developed with strict adherence to Japanese regulatory standards, ensuring compliance, reliability, and security.
SBI Holdings also plans to integrate Claude into its internal systems through APIs, enabling employees across the organization to utilize AI tools in their daily workflows.
SBI Chairman Highlights Importance Of AI Adoption
Yoshitaka Kitao, Chairman and President of SBI Holdings, described artificial intelligence as a strategic priority for the company.
According to Kitao, the rapid advancement of AI technology and Anthropic’s growing global influence made the partnership a natural step in SBI’s digital transformation efforts.
He also emphasized that security remains one of the most critical considerations for financial institutions adopting advanced AI technologies, making collaboration with a leading AI provider particularly valuable.
Customer-Facing AI Services Under Consideration
In addition to internal deployment, SBI Holdings is evaluating the development of customer-facing AI solutions powered by Claude.
Potential applications include automated financial guidance, personal budgeting assistance, insurance consultations, and other intelligent financial advisory services.
The rollout and development process will be supported by SBI affiliate Ridge-i, which will help implement AI-powered services across the broader SBI Group.
Anthropic Strengthens Presence In Japan
The partnership represents one of Anthropic’s largest financial-sector deployments to date and further strengthens the company’s expansion into international markets.
Anthropic Japan CEO Hidetoshi Tojo emphasized that financial services require exceptionally high standards of safety, accountability, and reliability when implementing generative AI technologies.
The announcement follows growing momentum for Anthropic, which recently confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO). The company has also expanded its strategic partnerships, including collaborations with major technology and enterprise organizations.
AI And Financial Services Continue To Converge
The agreement highlights the increasing convergence of artificial intelligence and financial services, particularly in markets such as Japan where innovation and regulatory compliance are both key priorities.
As SBI Holdings integrates Claude AI across its operations, the partnership could serve as a blueprint for how large financial institutions adopt generative AI technologies at scale while maintaining strict security and compliance standards.
The initiative also reinforces SBI Holdings’ broader vision of combining emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital assets, to shape the future of financial services.
