US spot Bitcoin ETFs ended the week with approximately $301 million in net inflows, breaking a two-week losing streak. However, significant withdrawals during the final two trading sessions limited an otherwise strong recovery.

According to Farside Investors, the positive result followed two consecutive weeks of losses. Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $228 million in outflows the previous week and another $680 million the week before. Despite the latest rebound, October’s cumulative net outflows stood at approximately $314 million.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surge Before Late-Week Reversal

Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $1.08 billion in fresh capital between Monday and Wednesday. The inflows coincided with Bitcoin (BTC) climbing to a weekly high of $84,777 on Wednesday, according to CoinGecko.

However, market sentiment shifted sharply toward the end of the week. As Bitcoin retreated toward $80,000, investors withdrew approximately $774 million from the funds on Thursday and Friday.

Consequently, the substantial withdrawals erased much of the earlier gains, leaving the funds with a comparatively modest weekly inflow.

Research Highlights Bitcoin ETF Investors’ Selling Behavior

Recent findings from market maker DWF Labs suggest that Bitcoin ETF investors frequently reduce their exposure during significant market downturns.

In research published Thursday, the company examined eight Bitcoin sell-offs of at least 15% since US spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in January 2024. Seven of those eight declines coincided with net ETF outflows.

These findings challenge the widespread assumption that institutional ETF investors consistently take advantage of falling Bitcoin prices to accumulate additional holdings.

Instead, the research suggests that ETF investors often respond to sharp corrections by selling rather than increasing their positions.

Bitcoin Market Sentiment Weakens as Prices Retreat

At the time of the original report, Bitcoin traded near $80,025, representing a decline of approximately 3.3% over the preceding seven days.

Meanwhile, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index dropped to 50, indicating neutral market sentiment. This marked a notable deterioration from the previous week’s reading of 59, which reflected greed among market participants.

The decline suggests that investor confidence weakened as Bitcoin struggled to maintain its earlier gains.

Ethereum ETFs Extend Their Outflow Streak

While Bitcoin ETFs managed to reverse their recent losing streak, US spot Ether ETFs continued to experience sustained selling pressure.

According to Farside Investors, Ether ETFs recorded approximately $221 million in net withdrawals during the week, marking their fourth consecutive week of outflows.

The contrasting fund flows highlight differing investor behavior across the two largest cryptocurrency ETF markets.
