Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek has announced plans to significantly raise the prices of its application programming interface services.
The company said demand for its latest AI models is increasing rapidly, prompting it to review its current API pricing structure.

DeepSeek published the update on its developer documentation page.
The company said overall API prices would rise in the near future and warned users to expect a significant increase.
However, DeepSeek did not reveal when the new prices would take effect or how large the increase would be.
It advised customers and developers to plan their usage carefully. The final pricing structure will be announced through a separate official notice.
DeepSeek Launches New AI Models
The planned price increase comes shortly after the release of two new artificial intelligence models: DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731 and DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
Both models support context windows of up to one million tokens.
They also include expanded reasoning capabilities, allowing them to process larger amounts of information and handle more complex tasks.
These upgrades may be contributing to stronger demand for DeepSeek’s API services.
Current DeepSeek API Prices
DeepSeek currently offers some of the lowest API prices in the artificial intelligence market.
For the DeepSeek-V4-Flash model, the company charges as little as $0.14 per one million input tokens for cache misses.
Output tokens for the same model cost around $0.28 per one million tokens.
The more advanced DeepSeek-V4-Pro model currently costs approximately $0.435 per one million input tokens and $0.87 per one million output tokens.
DeepSeek Remains Cheaper Than Major Rivals
Research firm Artificial Analysis found that DeepSeek’s V4-Flash model currently costs about $0.03 per benchmark task.
By comparison, Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 costs roughly $0.86 per task.
OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol costs approximately $1.86, while Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 costs around $3.15 per benchmark task.
These figures highlight DeepSeek’s strong pricing advantage over several major competitors.
Price Hike Could Reduce DeepSeek’s Advantage
