German Inflation Slows to 2.0% in February, Data Confirms

Germany’s annual inflation rate declined slightly to 2.0% in February, according to data released Wednesday by the country’s federal statistics office, confirming earlier preliminary estimates.

The figure reflects the harmonised consumer price index (HICP), which is used to compare inflation levels across countries within the European Union.

In January, Germany’s annual inflation rate stood at 2.1%, meaning consumer price growth has eased marginally month-over-month.

The latest data indicates that price pressures in Europe’s largest economy are gradually stabilizing, bringing inflation closer to the European Central Bank’s target level.
