Israel Readies for Weeks-Long Iran Campaign but Unlikely to Use Ground Forces, Military Says

The Israeli military has outlined plans for a potential campaign against Iran that could extend over several weeks, according to a spokesperson speaking on Tuesday. However, officials indicated that the deployment of Israeli ground forces remains unlikely at this stage.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said during an online briefing that the military has prepared for operations lasting “a number of weeks.” He noted that the exact timeline could shift depending on how the situation develops, adding that progress so far has been viewed positively by Israeli officials.

When asked whether Israel might send ground troops into Iran, Shoshani downplayed the possibility. He stated that such a move is not currently considered practical and is unlikely under present circumstances.

Israel and the United States have been conducting air strikes on Iranian targets since Saturday. The operations have prompted retaliatory action from Tehran, further escalating tensions in the region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that the conflict involving the U.S. and Israel could continue for some time, though he emphasized that it is not expected to last for years.

The situation remains fluid, with developments on the ground likely to determine the scope and duration of the military campaign.
