Major YouTube Outage Affects Users Worldwide, Fix in Progress

YouTube experienced a widespread outage on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday, affecting thousands of users around the world, according to checks conducted by Investing.com.

A spokesperson for Google confirmed that the disruption was linked to an issue within YouTube’s recommendation system. The technical problem prevented videos from appearing on both the website and the mobile app. While the homepage issue has now been resolved, the company said it is continuing to work on a complete fix to fully restore normal service.

During the outage, users visiting YouTube’s homepage or opening the mobile application were met with a blank screen and an error message stating, “Something went wrong.” The disruption sparked confusion among viewers, many of whom were unable to access suggested content.

As of 21:44 ET (02:44 GMT), checks by Investing.com indicated that YouTube had regained full functionality.

Data from Downdetector showed more than 240,000 outage reports within a single hour at the peak of the disruption. At the same time, users on Reddit and X shared multiple posts highlighting access issues and confirming that the platform was down in several regions.
