NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Amazon are reportedly in discussions to invest a combined total of up to $60 billion in artificial intelligence startup OpenAI, according to a report published Wednesday by The Information.

The report said Nvidia is considering an investment of as much as $30 billion, while Microsoft and Amazon are each weighing multi-billion-dollar commitments of their own.

The talks come as OpenAI looks to raise up to $100 billion in fresh funding to support its expanding artificial intelligence operations and large-scale data center development. The proposed funding round would value the ChatGPT creator at approximately $830 billion.

Earlier this week, reports also indicated that SoftBank Group is in negotiations to invest up to $30 billion more in OpenAI. That would build on SoftBank’s existing $41 billion stake in the company, which was completed in December.

OpenAI and SoftBank are already collaborating on a massive $500 billion initiative known as Stargate, a project aimed at building advanced AI-focused data center infrastructure across the United States.
