Lavrov and Rubio Hold “Constructive” Talks Ahead of Putin-Trump Summit

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a “constructive” discussion on Monday, as both sides prepare for an upcoming summit between President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the talks focused on concrete steps to advance agreements reached during a phone conversation on October 16 between the two leaders.

Preparations Underway for Putin-Trump Meeting in Budapest

The Kremlin confirmed last week that Putin and Trump will meet soon in Budapest, Hungary, marking their second summit of the year. Following this announcement, Lavrov and Rubio were assigned to coordinate the agenda and logistics for the meeting.

“The discussion was constructive and centered on implementing understandings achieved during the recent phone call between the presidents,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a brief statement.

No further details were provided about the content of the conversation or specific topics expected to be addressed during the upcoming summit.

The meeting is anticipated to cover bilateral relations, security cooperation, and other key international issues, as both nations signal a willingness to stabilize diplomatic dialogue despite ongoing global tensions.
