Trump Confirms Meeting with China’s Xi Will Move Forward
President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that his planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will go ahead. He said the two nations are “getting along” as his administration works to stabilize U.S.-China relations.
“Looks like the meeting with China will go forward,” Trump stated. He emphasized that the United States is in a strong position in the ongoing China trade talks and expressed optimism about reaching a mutually beneficial deal.
Trump also noted that discussions with China would address efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine, signaling broader diplomatic cooperation between Washington and Beijing.
At the same time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he would hold talks with his Chinese counterpart later on Friday. He described the call as part of the ongoing economic dialogue between the world’s two largest economies.
“I will speak with my Chinese counterpart this evening,” Bessent said, adding that he hopes China will show respect during the discussions.
