Trump Administration Weighs 11 Candidates to Replace Fed Chair Powell
The Trump administration is reviewing 11 potential candidates to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell when his term ends in May, according to CNBC.
Three new names have been added to the list: David Zervos, chief market strategist at Jefferies; Larry Lindsey, former Fed governor; and Rick Rieder, BlackRock’s chief investment officer for global fixed income.
They join eight previously known candidates, including Michelle Bowman, Fed vice chair for supervision; Chris Waller, Fed governor; and Philip Jefferson, Fed vice chair.
Other contenders are Marc Summerlin, former economic adviser in the Bush administration; Lorie Logan, president of the Dallas Fed; and James Bullard, former president of the St. Louis Fed. The list also includes Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council, and Kevin Warsh, former Fed governor.
The details were provided by two administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
