Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has once again demonstrated his commitment to the cryptocurrency ecosystem. On November 27, blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain revealed that Buterin sold unsolicited memecoins sent to his wallet, earning 22.89 ETH, valued at approximately $76,500. Arkham Intelligence noted that these tokens were sent to his wallet without prior request or cost.

Buterin has been outspoken about discouraging the practice of sending tokens to prominent wallets, likening it to spam. He has urged memecoin creators to direct their resources toward meaningful initiatives instead. Staying true to this principle, Buterin donated 320 ETH—worth around $1.07 million—to Coin Center, a Washington D.C.-based non-profit focused on cryptocurrency policy and regulatory clarity.

Coin Center is a prominent advocate for open blockchain networks like Ethereum and Bitcoin, conducting detailed policy research, educating lawmakers, and promoting balanced regulations. The organization also engages in legal efforts to protect civil liberties in the digital age. Buterin’s substantial contribution is expected to significantly support its mission to safeguard decentralized technology and encourage innovation.

This is not the first time Buterin has underscored his ethical approach in the crypto space. His stance is similar to that of Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who also discourages unsolicited token transfers to high-profile wallets.

Recently, Buterin also engaged with Anoncast by acquiring ANON tokens, highlighting his active participation in the blockchain ecosystem’s evolving platforms and tools.

Meanwhile, Ethereum (ETH) is currently trading at $3,411.51, marking a 0.85% increase over the past 24 hours, with a daily range of $3,255 to $3,443. Its market capitalization is $411 billion, with a trading volume of $40 billion over the last day, reflecting a 27% decrease.
