HYPE Token Surges 10% Amid Staking Launch on Hyperliquid Mainnet
The price of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid project, surged by approximately 10% today following the launch of staking on its mainnet. On-chain data revealed that three whales collectively accumulated around $8 million worth of HYPE tokens using USDC, reflecting strong investor confidence in the project.
Hyperliquid’s Growth and HYPE Token Trajectory
Hyperliquid gained significant attention in 2024 due to its innovative framework and robust fundamentals. Since its launch, the HYPE token has demonstrated continuous upward momentum, driven by market optimism and investor support.
The price rally began with Hyperliquid’s landmark airdrop, one of the largest in crypto history, valued at $1.6 billion. This event doubled the token’s price from $3 to $7. Since then, HYPE has climbed to become the 22nd largest cryptocurrency by market cap, according to CoinMarketCap, showcasing steady growth. 
Current Market Performance
As of today, the HYPE token is trading at $25.87, marking a 7.33% increase at press time, with its market cap reaching $8.63 billion. Despite a 13.73% drop in trading volume over the past 24 hours, the token’s overall performance highlights its growing dominance in the market.
Hyperliquid’s blockchain technology, offering 200,000 transactions per second (TPS) and 0.2-second transaction finality, has solidified its reputation as a top project to watch in 2025. Currently, HYPE competes closely with PEPE for market cap rankings, briefly overtaking it to secure a position in the top 20.
Whale Accumulation Boosts HYPE’s Momentum
On-chain analytics from Spot On Chain reported significant whale activity, with three major purchases totaling $8 million in USDC. One whale acquired 151,277 HYPE tokens for 3.96 million USDC, while two others purchased 99,546 HYPE and 37,017 HYPE for 2.6 million and 2 million USDC, respectively. Notably, one whale holds 107,198 HYPE tokens with a profit of $3.33 million.
