US Prepares for Potential Iran Strike: Report

US Military Buildup Nears Readiness for Possible Iran Strike

The United States could be prepared to launch military action against Iran by Saturday, according to a report by the Telegraph, which cited defense officials who recently briefed President Donald Trump.

The officials reportedly told Trump that the current military buildup — including aircraft and naval forces — is expected to reach operational readiness by the weekend. This would allow the United States to initiate air strikes against Iran if authorized.

Additional Fighter Jets and Carrier Group Deployed

In recent days, approximately 50 additional fighter jets, aerial refueling tankers, and support aircraft have been moved to the Middle East. The deployment is part of a broader strategy to increase U.S. military presence in the region.

A second aircraft carrier strike group, led by the USS Gerald R. Ford, is also expected to arrive in the eastern Mediterranean shortly. The carrier’s arrival would significantly expand U.S. air and naval capabilities.

Together, the combined force of combat aircraft, support systems, and naval assets could enable sustained air operations if a strike were ordered.

Missile Defenses and Regional Security

The military buildup also includes enhanced ground-based missile defense systems across the Middle East. These defenses are designed to protect U.S. forces, Gulf allies, and Israel from potential Iranian missile retaliation.

Officials have emphasized that the expanded presence serves both offensive and defensive purposes, strengthening deterrence while ensuring readiness.

No Final Decision on Military Action

According to the report, President Trump has not yet made a final decision on whether to proceed with military action.

Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has been briefed on multiple strategic options. These reportedly include strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, as well as broader actions aimed at weakening command-and-control infrastructure.

Other scenarios under discussion could involve targeting senior Iranian leadership figures or members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, depending on how the situation develops.

For now, Washington appears to be maintaining a posture of readiness while evaluating diplomatic and military considerations.
