Britain is preparing to ease entry rules for high-skilled workers, Finance Minister Rachel Reeves announced on Tuesday. The move is designed to make the UK more attractive to businesses, especially in contrast to recent U.S. visa restrictions.
The announcement follows President Donald Trump’s decision to raise H1-B visa fees last Friday. The H1-B program has long served as a key pathway for U.S. technology firms to recruit international talent.
Speaking at the opening of Revolut’s new London headquarters, Reeves drew a sharp comparison between the two approaches. “While Trump is making it harder to bring skilled workers into the U.S., we want to make it easier to bring talent into Britain,” she said.
Financial leaders have consistently stressed that London’s role as a global financial hub depends heavily on attracting skilled professionals from abroad.
The UK government has not yet provided full details on the upcoming visa changes, but the policy shift signals a more open stance toward international talent.
