U.S. Effort to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Allegedly Fails; Trump Dismisses Report as “Fake News”

A report from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has concluded that recent American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure likely failed to eliminate key elements of Tehran’s program, instead causing only a temporary disruption of a few months, according to media outlets citing informed U.S. officials.

The Pentagon’s intelligence division reportedly determined that much of Iran’s underground nuclear infrastructure — including centrifuges and stockpiles of enriched uranium at sites such as Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — remained largely undamaged and could be restored within one to two months.

CNN was the first to release details of the DIA’s assessment on Tuesday.

Later that day, former President Donald Trump contradicted the report, insisting that the strikes had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear sites. He also lashed out at news organizations for what he called misrepresentation of the operation’s outcome.

“FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE FAILING NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE TEAMED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEMEAN ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY STRIKES IN HISTORY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump had previously described the strikes as a “total obliteration” of Iran’s nuclear capabilities shortly after they were carried out.

White House officials also pushed back against the DIA report, calling its conclusions “flat‑out wrong” and maintaining that the operation dealt a serious blow to Iran’s nuclear capacity.

However, satellite images cited in the reports suggest that Iran may have preemptively relocated critical materials to secure locations ahead of the attacks.

These developments follow Trump’s Monday night announcement of a full ceasefire between Israel and Iran — though skepticism remains, as both nations reportedly violated the agreement shortly after it was declared.
