Trump Issues Deadline Warning to Iran
Donald Trump warned on Monday that Iran faces severe consequences if it does not reach a deal by Tuesday night. Speaking to reporters, he stated that the country could be “taken out” in a single night, emphasizing the urgency of ongoing negotiations.
Trump reiterated that Tehran must agree to a ceasefire or risk large-scale strikes targeting critical infrastructure, including power plants.
Threat of Major Military Escalation
At a White House briefing, Trump underscored the seriousness of the situation, repeating that decisive action could be taken imminently if no agreement is reached.
Pete Hegseth added that Monday would see the most intense wave of strikes since the beginning of the operation, with even larger attacks expected on Tuesday. His comments point to a potential escalation in military activity if diplomatic efforts fail.
High-Stakes Rescue Mission in Iran
Trump also detailed a recent operation to recover a downed American airman from Iranian territory. The pilot, who had been shot down on Friday, was successfully rescued on Sunday after evading detection while hiding in mountainous terrain.
The president described the mission as extremely challenging, noting that locating the airman was “like finding a needle in a haystack.”
Intelligence and Military Coordination
The operation involved hundreds of U.S. personnel working to locate and extract the pilot before Iranian forces could reach him. According to John Ratcliffe, the Central Intelligence Agency carried out a deception strategy to mislead Iranian forces about the airman’s location.
Ratcliffe confirmed that intelligence teams identified the pilot’s position in a remote mountain crevice, where he remained hidden from the enemy.
Successful Extraction Without Casualties
U.S. forces executed a coordinated rescue mission, engaging hostile elements, securing the area, and safely evacuating the pilot without any reported casualties.
Defense Secretary Hegseth noted that the airman used an emergency transponder to signal his position. His first message after contact was reportedly: “God is good.”
The mission highlights both the risks of the ongoing conflict and the operational capabilities of U.S. military and intelligence forces.
