Trump Rallies GOP Support for GENIUS Act as Crypto Week Kicks Off
As Crypto Week begins in Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump is urging Republican lawmakers in the House to vote in favor of the GENIUS Act—a bill he believes will cement America’s leadership in the digital asset space.
Trump Pushes for Swift Approval of Stablecoin Regulation Bill
The GENIUS Act, short for Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins, is approaching a critical vote in the House of Representatives. Trump has voiced his full support, emphasizing that its passage would give the U.S. a commanding lead in the global digital currency race, especially over Europe and China. On Truth Social, the President called the legislation a game-changer, stating it would catapult the nation “lightyears ahead” of its competitors.
Already passed by the Senate last month, the bill now awaits final approval in the House. Trump is advocating for a quick and unaltered passage to expedite the regulatory framework for stablecoins.
Crypto Week Packed with Key Legislative Moves
This week is being called “Crypto Week” in Capitol Hill, as lawmakers are set to debate a suite of digital asset bills. Alongside the GENIUS Act, Trump has endorsed two more significant proposals: the CLARITY Act, designed to bring clearer oversight for crypto service providers, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, aimed at banning the Federal Reserve from launching a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
Trump framed the legislative momentum as a historic opportunity, declaring: “This is our moment—digital assets, GENIUS, CLARITY—it’s all part of making America great again.”
Opposition Mounts from Democrats
Not everyone is on board. A faction of House Democrats has launched what they’re calling “Anti-Crypto Corruption Week,” in a bid to block both the GENIUS and CLARITY Acts. Despite the opposition, industry observers expect the House to move forward with voting on the bills by July 17—a development that could mark a major turning point for U.S. digital asset regulation.
