Trump Media Acquires $105M in CRO to Build Cronos Treasury with Crypto.com

Trump Media and Technology Group has announced the acquisition of 684.4 million Cronos (CRO) tokens, worth around $105 million, as part of a new partnership with Crypto.com. The move establishes a dedicated Cronos Treasury and positions Trump Media as a major institutional backer of the blockchain network.

The deal, split between cash and stock, represents about 2% of CRO’s circulating supply. Trump Media will store and stake the tokens using Crypto.com’s institutional custody platform, allowing the company to generate additional revenue while building a long-term digital asset strategy.

CEO Devin Nunes emphasized that the purchase supports Trump Media’s broader fintech vision, highlighting CRO’s utility as a fast and secure settlement tool. Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek added that the partnership demonstrates the token’s growing real-world value, backed by trusted custody and staking infrastructure.

Beyond the treasury, Trump Media will integrate CRO into its Truth Social and Truth+ platforms. A rewards program powered by Crypto.com’s wallet technology will provide blockchain-based incentives to users, further expanding adoption of Cronos in consumer applications.

Trump Media also launched Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, Inc., a separate entity aimed at building a billion-dollar Cronos Treasury. The company is pursuing a merger with Yorkville Acquisition Corp, a Nasdaq-listed SPAC, to expand its role in blockchain and decentralized finance.

The announcement immediately boosted CRO’s price. TradingView data shows the token climbed from $0.268 to $0.274 within hours, reflecting a market gain of over 2%. The surge signals growing confidence in Cronos as Trump Media strengthens its crypto strategy, adding CRO to its growing Bitcoin holdings, now valued above $2 billion.

This deal underscores Trump Media’s ambition to link fintech, blockchain, and mainstream media, solidifying CRO’s place in its digital ecosystem.
