Trump Claims U.S. Controls Iranian Airspace, Calls for ‘Unconditional Surrender’
On his Truth Social platform, former President Donald Trump claimed, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” prompting widespread attention due to his use of “we,” despite the United States not being officially involved in combat operations against Iran.
In his remarks, Trump praised U.S. military capabilities, suggesting that while Iran possesses “good sky trackers and other defensive equipment,” they fall short compared to “American made, conceived, and manufactured stuff.” He ended the post with: “Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
The comments come amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. According to reports, Israeli officials expect the U.S. may eventually join the conflict, particularly to target Iran’s underground uranium enrichment facilities.
So far, the U.S. has limited its role to defensive support, primarily aiding Israel in intercepting missile attacks, without engaging in direct strikes on Iran.
Vice President JD Vance also weighed in on the situation via the platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that Trump has consistently opposed Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons for over a decade. He stated that Trump had directed his foreign policy team to pursue diplomatic efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring such weapons.
Vance clarified that while Iran could pursue civilian nuclear energy, it has refused that path and instead enriched uranium “well beyond civilian needs,” in violation of international non-proliferation agreements as noted by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He defended Trump’s handling of the crisis, characterizing it as demonstrating “remarkable restraint,” and stressed that the administration’s priority remains protecting U.S. troops and citizens. While acknowledging concerns over foreign entanglements, Vance expressed trust in Trump’s judgment regarding potential future actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Later, in a follow-up post, Trump asserted, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He’s an easy target, but he’s safe for now — we’re not going to take him out (kill!), at least not yet. But we don’t want missiles fired at civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
He concluded emphatically with the message: “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”
