Trump Signals Push to End Iran War Within Weeks

Donald Trump has reportedly told close advisers that he wants to avoid a prolonged conflict with Iran and is aiming to bring the war to an end in the near term, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

White House Targets Four-to-Six Week Timeline

According to sources cited in the report, Trump believes the conflict may be approaching its final phase. He has privately encouraged his team to adhere to a four-to-six week timeline for ending hostilities.

This expected timeframe is also influencing broader diplomatic planning, including a potential mid-May summit with China.

Conflict Enters Fourth Week With No Clear Resolution

The report comes as tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran enter a fourth consecutive week, with little indication of a near-term resolution.

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Tehran has largely rejected calls from Washington for a ceasefire, signaling continued resistance to U.S. proposals.

Iran Reviews Proposal but Rejects Direct Talks

Iran confirmed it is reviewing a 15-point peace plan proposed by the United States. However, officials have ruled out direct negotiations with Washington, opting instead to communicate through indirect channels.

At the same time, Tehran has introduced its own five-point proposal, which includes demands for reparations and the introduction of toll mechanisms in the Strait of Hormuz.

Middle East Tensions Continue to Escalate

Hostilities across the region remain elevated, with the U.S., Israel, and Iran continuing to exchange strikes.

Iran has also effectively restricted access through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route responsible for transporting roughly 20% of the world’s oil and gas supply. This disruption has heightened concerns over global energy markets and economic stability.
