Tesla to Begin Self-Driving Model Y Deliveries Ahead of Schedule in June
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) will begin delivering its first self-driving Model Y vehicles in June, a month earlier than initially planned, CEO Elon Musk announced on Thursday.
Musk revealed that the company has already been testing fully autonomous Model Y units—with no one in the driver’s seat—on public roads in Austin over the past several days. He noted that the tests were conducted incident-free.
In a notable development for Tesla, the first self-driving car will be delivered directly from the factory to the customer next month, Musk confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
This milestone represents a major advancement in Tesla’s broader efforts to bring fully autonomous driving to market.
