Tesla’s new car sales in the UK rose 12% year-on-year in June, according to figures released Friday by research firm New AutoMotive.

The U.S.-based electric vehicle maker sold 7,891 vehicles in June, up from 7,019 units during the same month in 2023.

The increase came as Tesla began delivering its refreshed Model Y to UK customers last month, helping to drive the sales boost.

Tesla’s gains were part of a broader uptick in the UK automotive market, with overall new car registrations climbing 12.8% year-on-year to reach 187,655 units in June.

Sales of battery electric vehicles stood out, surging 45.5% compared to the same period last year, the data showed.
