Swedish GDP Rises 1.1% in August on Strong Household Spending

Sweden’s economy expanded by 1.1% in August compared to the previous month, according to official data released on Friday by the Statistics Office of Sweden.

On a year-over-year basis, gross domestic product (GDP) rose 2.4%, after adjusting for calendar effects, compared with August 2024.

The agency said the monthly increase was driven mainly by higher household consumption and rising production across the business sector.

In its statement, the statistics office noted that “the Swedish economy grew in August thanks to stronger consumer spending and expanding business output.”

The data suggests that Sweden’s recovery momentum remains intact, supported by resilient domestic demand and steady industrial activity.
