NVIDIA Stock Climbs as CEO Huang Launches European Tour in the UK with AI-Focused Agenda

NVIDIA shares extended recent gains on Monday as CEO Jensen Huang began a high-profile tour of Europe, starting in the UK. Huang joined British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to inaugurate London Tech Week, signaling a significant shift in the UK’s tech landscape—from a startup-centric focus to a central pillar of national policy. This evolution is being driven by targeted investments in talent, platforms, and strategic alliances.

As of 11:40 AM ET, NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) was trading 0.94% higher at $143.03.

During the event, Huang highlighted the transformative power of artificial intelligence, forecasting that AI would become integral to every sector in the UK. Echoing this, Prime Minister Starmer emphasized the government’s commitment to embedding AI across all departments to improve citizens’ lives, while pointing to the UK’s thriving AI ecosystem, significant capital investment, and vision of becoming a global AI innovation hub.

NVIDIA is deepening its footprint in the UK with plans to establish a new AI research lab and collaborate with the government on upskilling local developers. These initiatives are designed to create a virtuous cycle where infrastructure investments fuel innovation, leading to breakthroughs and the rise of new AI-driven enterprises.

The partnership between NVIDIA and the UK government spans multiple initiatives. The NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute will contribute to a national AI skills strategy, offering advanced training to developers. The upcoming AI Technology Center will spearhead research in embodied AI, materials science, and environmental modeling. The Financial Conduct Authority is integrating NVIDIA tools into its regulatory tech sandbox, and a new partnership will push forward research in AI-powered 6G networks. The Isambard-AI supercomputer—powered by NVIDIA—is also expected to go live this summer.

A major highlight is the UK government’s commitment to invest nearly £1 billion in AI research computing by 2030, with funding beginning this year. This move aligns with Starmer’s vision for “sovereign AI”—an approach that blends cutting-edge tech with the country’s unique cultural identity and values.

NVIDIA’s European strategy extends well beyond the UK. The company is collaborating with partners across Sweden, Germany, and France to develop national AI infrastructure and next-generation supercomputers. In France, NVIDIA is backing the creation of Europe’s largest AI campus in the greater Paris area.

NVIDIA’s UK operations already include over 1,700 Inception program members and a workforce of 500. The firm is actively supporting major enterprises in building AI-powered “factories of the future” and nurturing a new generation of startups and scale-ups.

The company’s European tour continues in Paris, where Huang will headline NVIDIA GTC Paris, broadcasting live from VivaTech on June 11 at 11:00 a.m. CEST. The keynote will be streamed globally and is expected to cover NVIDIA Blackwell, sovereign AI initiatives, and regional partnerships—demonstrating how European innovation is being powered by NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure.
