Meta Platforms Inc. has acquired Manus, a fast-growing developer of autonomous, general-purpose AI agents, as part of its strategy to embed advanced agent technology across its product lineup. The companies announced the deal on Monday. While financial details were not disclosed, The Wall Street Journal reported that the transaction values Manus at roughly $2 billion, citing people familiar with the matter.

Manus, which introduced its first general AI agent earlier this year, has already processed more than 147 trillion tokens and generated over 80 million virtual computing environments. The platform serves millions of individual users and businesses globally.

Xiao Hong, chief executive officer of Manus, said the company will gain a stronger and more sustainable foundation under Meta while maintaining its operational independence. According to the Journal, Hong will report directly to Meta’s chief operating officer, Javier Olivan.

Meta plans to continue offering Manus as a standalone service while gradually integrating its technology into Meta’s broader ecosystem, including Meta AI. The move is expected to extend Manus’s capabilities to Meta’s billions of users and millions of business customers worldwide.

Based in Singapore, Manus has expanded at an exceptional pace. The company recently announced it had reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue just eight months after launch, making it the fastest startup globally to hit that milestone. Its total revenue run rate now exceeds $125 million when including usage-based income and other sources.

At the time Meta approached the company, Manus was reportedly seeking new funding at a $2 billion valuation, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The acquisition comes during a pivotal year for Meta as it accelerates a broad artificial intelligence overhaul under CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The company has been reorganizing its AI strategy while developing new models, reportedly codenamed Mango and Avocado, targeted for release in 2026.

Earlier in 2025, Meta launched Meta Superintelligence Labs, a dedicated AI division based in Menlo Park, California. The unit is led by Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI**, in which Meta acquired a 49% stake for $14 billion.

Analysts reacted positively to the deal. Barton Crockett of Rosenblatt Securities** said the acquisition could prove as impactful as Meta’s purchases of Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014, calling it potentially transformative for the company.

Manus will continue operating from Singapore following the acquisition. Wang said in a post on X that the Manus team currently numbers around 100 employees.

Meta has not yet responded to a request for comment.
